Job Brief

Our client is FOODLAND ONTARIO. Your role is to develop relationships with grocers and through merchandising activities, promote the consumption of fresh Ontario produce and agricultural foods.

The Opportunity: FOODLAND MERCHANDISING SPECIALIST: MISSISSAUGA, 22-27 HOURS/WEEK $18-$20/HOUR +KM REIMBURSEMENT


Position Summary:

Our client is Foodland Ontario. Your role is to help identify and promote Ontario foods in grocery stores across your region by providing promotions and marketing materials. You will promote the annual retailer awards program, recognizing food retailers who promote Ontario foods. Through your higher-performer personality, you will ensure that the Foodland Ontario brand is executed at the highest level at the outlets you cover. In order to do this, you will need to deliver on the call coverage objectives, increase distribution & visibility of the marketing materials, execute brand priorities and build relationships with key store contacts, said differently: WE need YOU to make sure that shoppers select Ontario-grown produce and agricultural foods!

What You Will Be Doing Every Day:

  • Build rapport and communicate with Produce and/or Department managers
    • Recommend/sell in merchandising and display ideas
    • Share information on Ontario commodities
  • Enthusiastically promote the benefits of the Foodland program and brand
    • Promote the Retailer Awards Program and its benefits
    • Promote the Grower Group Retail Display Contest and its benefits
    • Share cross-merchandising and display ideas and photos with Department Managers
  • Merchandise and Measure
    • Measure linear footage of both seasonal Ontario and Imported commodities
    • Record the display type/location of key Ontario products being tracked
    • Plan, strategically place and record all Foodland POS (point of sale material) to identify the seasonal Ontario products
    • Maximize POS placement on Ontario products (professionally/not overdone) throughout the produce department, store entrances, checkout counters, other departments (i.e. meat, deli, bakery, dairy, grocery bread, as appropriate)
    • POS placement may also include: farmers’ markets, cafeterias, restaurants and other locations throughout Ontario as requested
    • Remove/replace outdated or damaged POS as necessary and dispose in an environmentally responsible manner
    • Execute special projects, surveys as scheduled by Foodland or your Manager
    • Share creative merchandising insights with Foodland team members/Manager

Your Experience:

You have previous sales and/or merchandising experience, preferably in the grocery channel. If not in the grocery channel, don’t worry, as long as you share the same values, we can teach you all you need to know once you’re on board.
