Prairie Hospice is a non profit organization, we are a community hospice supporting those people at end of life, where ever they call home.

Job description

The Organization: Prairie Hospice (nonprofit, charitable organization) provides client centered, non-medical care delivered by volunteers for Saskatoon residents and their families who are facing advanced illness, death and bereavement.

The Position: Accountable to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator ensures effective and efficient sustainability, managing intake of clients, engagment of volunteers, develops and provides training and support to volunteers and and maintains databases. The role will promote positive relationships with volunteers, clients and staff. Cultivates relationships with related professionals, individuals and community groups who may be involved in client services and/or hospice advocacy.

The Program Coordinator enjoys the challenges and the rewards of providing support to the community and the team that provides services to terminally ill clients and their families, and to work in a dynamic ever changing, quick paced environment. This role provides a degree of schedule flexibility and the opportunity to be a part of the growing organization, and influential in providing new innovative ideas to attain this growth.

Qualifications:

  • post secondary education in human services, nursing or social work
  • Knowledge of end of life issues
  • Competent in use of computers/software applications (ie Microsoft office suite).
  • Demonstrates ability to learn new skills, shows initiative, function with considerable self-reliance and to work as a part of a team
  • Demonstrate ability to use sound judgement in problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate and modify programming, policy and procedures
  • Ability to communicate with and maintain an effective working relationship with outside organizations, donors and the community
  • Adult learning knowledge and communication skills to transfer knowledge
  • Highly organized and able to set priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership success.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to drive and provide own vehicle.
