Join Our Team as an Indigenous Engagement Specialist

As an Indigenous Engagement Specialist on the Alexandra Bridge Project, you will play an important role in supporting respectful relationship-building, communication, and engagement activities with Indigenous communities throughout the project lifecycle. The Alexandra Bridge Project is a significant infrastructure initiative focused on the rehabilitation and enhancement of one of the Ottawa–Gatineau region’s key transportation links. This complex bridge construction and refurbishment project will involve coordination with multiple stakeholders, contractors, and project partners while maintaining a strong focus on safety, environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, and meaningful community and Indigenous engagement.

What You’ll Do:

As an Indigenous Engagement Specialist, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the planning and delivery of community engagement activities for resource and infrastructure clients, including preparing materials, tracking stakeholder interactions, and facilitating outreach initiatives.
  • Drive social performance reporting and analysis by maintaining databases, monitoring commitments, and compiling metrics to provide insights for project decision-making and compliance.
  • Lead the research and preparation for client audits to proactively identify social risks and develop strategic solutions to project development challenges.
  • Execute social impact assessments by establishing socio-economic baselines, community profiles, and identifying potential project impacts on Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
  • Advise clients on fulfilling their socioeconomic commitments and support the development of plans that meet or exceed industry best practices.
  • Create concordance tables and cross-reference materials to ensure all regulatory engagement duties for environmental assessments are met in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage the planning and implementation of community and Indigenous participation strategies to ensure meaningful project involvement.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by collaborating with project managers across the organization and with external partners.
  • Contribute to industry thought leadership by sharing expertise at conferences, networking events, and webinars, as well as through professional blog posts.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and communities to integrate Indigenous knowledge, concerns and priorities into project planning and decision making.

What We're Looking For:

We’re excited to meet candidates who have: Post-secondary education in communications, community development, sustainability, policy, planning or economic development

  • Related experience of as Analyst or Consultant in community and stakeholder engagement, impact assessment, or communications
  • Experience working on (Analyst) or leading (Consultant) related major projects in the infrastructure, transportation and bridges.
  • Creative and approachable professional capable of proposing innovative, client-focused solutions.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Flexible and available for both domestic and international travel as required by project demands.
  • Exceptional communicator with a polished presentation style and a proven ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Proactive and service-oriented, with a dedicated approach to meeting client needs and adaptability to the task's scale or complexity.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to cultural with positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French
