Job Summary:

The Eastern Canada Market Sector Leader – Mining Laboratory Services is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth, expanding market share, and strengthening Bureau Veritas' position as a leading provider of environmental and industrial hygiene laboratory services to the mining industry across Eastern Canada.


This role serves as the primary business development leader for the mining sector throughout Quebec, Ontario, Northern Ontario, Nunavut, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The position is responsible for developing strategic client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and promoting Bureau Veritas' analytical testing capabilities throughout all phases of the mining lifecycle, including exploration, development, operations, reclamation, and closure.


The successful candidate will leverage technical knowledge of mining operations, environmental regulations, occupational health requirements, and laboratory testing solutions to position Bureau Veritas as a trusted partner delivering exceptional service, rapid turnaround times, analytical excellence, and responsive client support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development & Revenue Growth:

  • Achieve annual sales, revenue, and profitability objectives for Mining Laboratory Services throughout Eastern Canada.
  • Develop and execute territory-specific business development plans focused on mining, environmental monitoring, occupational hygiene, and regulatory compliance services.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with mining companies, engineering firms, environmental consultants, Indigenous organizations, and government agencies.
  • Expand market share through strategic account management and targeted prospecting efforts.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and consistently achieve growth targets.

Mining Laboratory Services:

Promote Bureau Veritas laboratory solutions supporting:

  • Environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Soil, sediment, water, wastewater, and air quality testing.
  • Industrial hygiene and occupational exposure assessments.
  • Worker exposure monitoring programs.
  • Silica and silicate exposure analysis.
  • Diesel particulate matter testing.
  • Confined space monitoring and compliance support.
  • Human tissue and biological monitoring programs.
  • Animal tissue and ecological monitoring programs.
  • Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) programs.
  • Mine permitting, operations, reclamation, and closure requirements.
  • Specialized analytical services supporting mining operations and environmental stewardship.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key decision-makers throughout the mining industry.
  • Conduct regular client visits and business reviews throughout the assigned territory.
  • Identify customer challenges and provide laboratory solutions aligned with regulatory and operational objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with laboratory operations and customer service teams to ensure exceptional client experiences.
  • Address customer concerns and facilitate effective resolution when required.

Industry Leadership & Market Presence:

    • Represent Bureau Veritas at mining conferences, industry associations, technical workshops, and trade events.
    • Pursue speaking opportunities and industry engagement activities to increase market visibility.
    • Monitor changes in mining regulations, environmental legislation, occupational health standards, and industry best practices.
    • Provide strategic recommendations regarding market opportunities and emerging service needs.

Skills:

Education, Certifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mining Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant mining industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of business development, sales, consulting, account management, or client-facing experience within the mining, environmental, laboratory, industrial hygiene, or related industries.
  • Experience working with environmental analytical laboratories strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian mining regulations, environmental compliance programs, and occupational health requirements preferred.
  • Established network within the Canadian mining industry is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated success achieving sales growth and developing strategic client relationships.
  • French and English language proficiency (spoken and written) is required.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.

Travel:

  • Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, Train (50 - 80% of time) to client/project sites across Eastern Canada. required.
  • Employees in this role should expect frequent travel.
