Position Title: Environmental Technician

Salary/Wage: 45,000-53,000

Job Type: Full-time

Greenough Environmental Consulting Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of an Environmental Technician to join our group, reporting directly to our Project Managers and President. Join our team to conduct facility waste audit sorts, reporting, travel for site work, air monitoring, water testing, health and safety inspections and more! Experience within the field and bilingualism (French, oral and written communication) are assets but not required.

Qualifications:

· 1 to 2 years of work or education experience ideally related to environmental consulting, health and safety, site inspections and investigations.

· Post-secondary education in engineering or sciences an asset, though not required.

· Candidates must be detail orientated with emphasis on customer service and quality of work.

· Familiarity with regulations and laws surrounding hazardous materials & health and safety (Lead, Asbestos, Mould, Potable Water, etc.)

· Candidates must also be able to work well in a team environment and possess a high level of oral and written communication.

· Valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle is required (work-related travel expenses will be compensated).

· Experience in technical writing of proposals, specifications, and technical reports.

· Experience working in a team environment and working with clients in person.

· Candidates must be detail orientated with emphasis on customer service and quality of work.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Capable of critical thinking and applying knowledge base to new problems.

· Must be able to obtain Secret PSPC Security Clearance. Existing PSPC Security Clearance (Reliability or Secret level) is considered a significant asset. (https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/esc-src/personnel/pdas-scrp-eng.html)

· Must be able to obtain OPP, OPS, RCMP &/or Vulnerable Sector Check for specific site access

· Bilingualism is a significant asset

· AutoCAD experience is an asset

Key responsibilities, including but not limited to:

· Coordinating and performing designated substance inspections, indoor air quality assessments and air monitoring of environmental abatement/remediation projects.

· Once trained, individuals will complete various survey and inspections within the areas of expertise of the company such as:

o Hazardous material assessments,

o Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations,

o Non-hazardous Waste Audits,

o Potable water sampling,

o Soil sampling,

o Mould and Water-loss assessments,

o Radon sampling,

o And many more!

· Maintaining excellent client relationships in various industries.

· Work with government, commercial and private/public clients.

· This position will require short-term (approx. 1 week at a time) work-related travel in and around the Ottawa area and National Capital Area. Out of town and overnight travel may also be required throughout Ontario/Quebec.

· This position will require that the candidate be flexible to work outside of regular business hours (evenings and weekends) and complete extra hours, when required. Overtime is paid for extra hours worked and managers work with everyone to balance flexible schedules so everyone benefits.

· Assist in preparing proposals and bids for submission, tracking project budgets and cost control.

· Preparing reports, summarizing data and drawings.

· Maintaining and enhancing quality control within the group by ensuring accuracy of work prior to submittal.

· Conducting project administration tasks as required, including timesheet generation, project finance management and project invoicing.

· Carrying out safe work practices in accordance with GEC site specific Health & Safety plans and changing COVID-19 Standards.

· Other Duties as assigned

Pay: $45,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
