SUMMARY:

- RF ENGINEER / SPECIALIST

We are currently looking for a highly-motivated, experienced Lead RF Radio Engineer/Specialist to join our Calgary team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· System planning, design, preparation of documents for radio communication system installation and RF frequency licensing, including Trunked Radio, P25/Tetra and Microwave Radio systems, Telecom Shelters/Towers, and Telecom Sites

· Prepare design drawings such as architecture diagrams, layouts, wiring diagrams, calculations, BOM, cable schedules, RF coverage report for radio communications system including tower sites

· Coordinate with vendors and review vendor engineering documentation to ensure engineering standards and client’s specifications are met

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

· Knowledge of wireless technologies such as LMR (Land Mobile Radio), Wi-Fi, wireless PTMP/PTP, satellite, microwave, LTE and SCADA

· Expertise and experience with P25 System is preferred

  • Understanding of RF system infrastructure including repeaters, antennas, filters, combiners, multicouplers, duplexers, etc.
  • Familiarity with IP network design

· Good understanding of RF propagation

· Experience with RF coverage modelling and predicting tools (Spectrum-E, Pathloss, ibWave, WinProp ProMan, Ekahau or similar)

· Knowledge of CEC, CSA S37, Motorola R56 and other relevant industry standards

· Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and support team resources

· High attention to details

· Ability to draft engineering drawings using AutoCAD/MicroStation is an advantage

· Team oriented, organized and customer focused

· Personal Characteristics: problem solving, ability to work under pressure

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA

· Eligible to work in Canada

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or Telecommunication
