Job Overview
Red Swan Pizza has established itself as the fastest-growing company in the Canadian pizza industry, rapidly scaling its footprint to 174 locations across six provinces. The brand's market success is anchored by a highly scalable franchising model built around premium, crowd-pleasing culinary offerings. Famous for our gourmet-style pizzas, our brand is instantly recognizable by a unique, faintly sweet signature crust standardly dressed with toasted sesame seeds. Red Swan’s extensive lineup caters to diverse regional and cultural palates, featuring innovative profiles like the Spicy Perogy Pizza, All-Dressed, Spicy Ginger Cilantro, and Chicken Shawarma, alongside classic Canadian favorites.
Our Culture: The working culture at Red Swan Pizza is dynamic, welcoming, and defined by a highly diverse environment that embraces individuals from all backgrounds and fosters a genuine sense of belonging. Team members operate in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere where inclusivity is prioritized, making it an inviting place to build a career. Beyond our positive daily environment, we place a strong emphasis on professional development, offering robust growth opportunities for our team.
Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and organized Regional Operations Manager to join our head office team. This dual-role position involves driving key marketing initiatives while providing exceptional front-desk and administrative support. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency with various office and design software. This role is essential to ensuring smooth daily operations and supporting our marketing efforts to drive brand growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control & Brand Compliance Inspections
In a pizza franchise, product consistency and food safety are paramount—a slice in one store must match a slice in another 50 miles away.
- Unannounced Field Audits: Conduct regular operational and cleanliness evaluations (OERs) using corporate audit rubrics.
- Food Safety & Temperature Audits: Monitor CCPs (Critical Control Points), ensuring dough walk-in coolers stay between 34°F–38°F (1°C–3°C), toppings are held safely, and cook temperatures meet health codes.
- Product Quality Verification: Inspect dough fermentation stages, cheese/sauce portion controls, bake quality (checking for gum lines or burnt edges), and box presentation.
- Action Plan Enforcement: Issue corrective action plans for compliance failures and follow up with re-inspections for underperforming stores.
2. New Store Onboarding Process (NSO)
Launching a new location smoothly sets the foundation for a franchisee's long-term success.
- Pre-Opening Readiness: Guide franchisees through construction sign-offs, equipment installation (calibration of impinger or deck ovens), and initial supply chain setups.
- Team & Management Training: Oversee the training of store managers and line crew on standard operating procedures (dough stretching, topping station speed, conveyor loading, and POS navigation).
- Grand Opening Onsite Supervision: Provide hands-on leadership during soft-launch and grand opening weeks, managing line bottlenecks and ensuring delivery driver logistics are clear.
- Post-Opening Hand-off: Conduct 30-60-90 day post-opening reviews to transition the store into regular operational territory management.
3. Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
QBRs shift your focus from daily tactics to strategic performance management.
- Financial & KPI Analysis: Sit down with franchise owners every quarter to analyze store-level P&Ls, focusing on Prime Costs (Food/Paper Cost + Labor Cost).
- Operational Metric Benchmarking: Evaluate key performance metrics, including:
- Out-the-Door (OTD) Time & Delivery Run Times
- Food Waste / Variance (cheese and meat giveaway)
- Customer Satisfaction Scores & Order Accuracy Rates
- Territory Benchmarking: Show franchisees where they rank compared to regional averages to drive healthy competition and pinpoint operational gaps.
- Joint Business Planning: Establish mutual, measurable goals for the next quarter (e.g., "Reduce food cost variance by 1.5% through portion control scale usage").
4. Marketing Support & Menu Execution
Operations and marketing must align so the store can handle the demand created by campaigns.
- Local Store Marketing (LSM) Coaching: Help franchisees execute targeted LSM efforts, such as community sponsorships, door-hanger drops in high-density delivery zones, and local business lunches.
- LTO (Limited Time Offer) Rollouts: Train store managers and staff on new menu items, dough prep changes, packaging additions, and POS updates prior to national or regional marketing pushes.
- Third-Party & Digital Channel Optimization: Ensure store profiles are optimized on native mobile apps as well as third-party delivery platforms (DoorDash, UberEats), monitoring digital order accuracy and delivery packaging standards.
5. Ongoing Operations & Franchisee Coaching
You serve as the single point of contact for day-to-day operational hurdles and business development.
- Speed-of-Service & Throughput Optimization: Coach teams on "make-line" ergonomics, cross-training staff for Friday/Saturday night peak rushes, and streamlining oven-to-heat-shelf workflows.
- Supply Chain Troubleshooting: Work with approved distributors to resolve ingredient shortages, dough performance issues (e.g., blown or tight dough batches), or equipment failures.
- Franchisee Relationship Management: Balance brand enforcement with empathy, acting as a trusted advisor to help franchisees build profitable, scalable multi-unit operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Workspace.
- Financial Software: Proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable bookkeeping software.
- Communication & Support: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette and customer service experience.
- Organization & Multitasking: Outstanding organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a proven ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong computer literacy with a quick ability to learn and adapt to new software and digital tools.
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in the food industry required.
- Licensing & Transportation: Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
Candidates applying for the job must be either Permanent residence of Canada or citizens.
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Extended health care
