Are you a leader who thrives in high-pressure situations? As an Air Combat Systems Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll plan and direct aircraft missions, and coordinate operations ranging from domestic search and rescue to international deployments.

This position is available full-time or part-time, or as part of our paid education program.

Overview

Air Combat Systems Officers often direct and coordinate the tactical activities of other units. They lead a variety of missions, including:

  • Search and Rescue
  • Anti-Submarine Operations
  • Maritime Surface Surveillance and Targeting
  • Counter-Narcotics Operations
  • Air-to-Air Refueling
  • Humanitarian Relief
  • Combined Operations with Foreign Militaries
  • Electronic Warfare Training and Support

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
  • For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
  • For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).

Direct Entry Plan

If you already have a university degree, the CAF will decide if your academic program matches the criteria for this job and may place you directly into the required on-the-job training program following basic training. Basic training and military officer qualification training are required before being assigned.
