Full job description
A challenging opportunity exists with the Muskoka Ambulance Communications Service. We are seeking a dedicated professional to work rotating shifts in a 24 / 7 / 365 environment, and:
Summary of General Duties:
· Process 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance and fire response
· Direct and oversee ambulance movement
· Provide diligent pre-arrival first aid and CPR instructions
· Communicate with individuals under stress
· Multi-task in a highly technical environment, using multiple communication tools (i.e. telephone, radio, computer aided dispatch, digital mapping etc.)
Qualifications & Skills Required:
Mandatory:
· OSSD or equivalent
· Keyboarding skills minimum of 35 wpm with 90% accuracy
· Ability to provide a criminal background check
· ********First Aid and CPR required by time of hiring*****
Critical skills:
· Ability to multi-task, organize and memorize while concurrently coordinating a variety of activities and resources in a calm and professional manner
· Perform with professionalism and courtesy at all times; maintaining control of stressful situations
· Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making abilities
· Excellent ability to apply judgment during the application of policy/procedure and general information
· Ability to make sound independent decisions
· Demonstrate an understanding of spatial concepts
