Job Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Recruiter & HR Operations Coordinator to join our fast-paced Drilling Operations division. Based fully on-site at our Calgary office, you will work collaboratively as part of a close-knit workforce management and human resources team to handle the end-to-end recruitment, compliance, and mobilization pipeline for rig crews and field personnel.

In this multi-faceted role, you will balance fast-paced volume sourcing with foundational HR coordination. You will share the responsibility of sourcing talent via social media, drafting complex employment offers, coordinating pre-employment screening, and managing human resource records. Because drilling operations run 24/7, you and your teammates will share an on-call rotation schedule to effectively manage real-time crew dispatch and urgent after-hours operational emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

Team Collaboration: Partner closely with fellow recruiters, logistics coordinators, and operational managers to seamlessly manage daily and seasonal rig personnel demands.

Full-Cycle Recruitment: Jointly source, screen, interview, and pipeline qualified workforce talent for Western Canadian drilling operations (e.g., Leasehands, Floorhands, Motorhands, Derrickhands, Drillers).

HR Administration & Onboarding: Draft, issue, and coordinate official corporate offer letters, employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and sensitive onboarding packages.

Pre-Employment Coordination: Schedule and accurately track all mandatory pre-employment requirements, including drug & alcohol (D&A) tests, fitness-to-work medicals, and audiograms.

Training & Safety Compliance: Verify, book, and log mandatory energy sector safety certificates (e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid, Common Safety Orientation / CSO) to ensure 100% compliance prior to field deployment.

HR Records & Ticket Tracking: Maintain internal HR information databases to monitor employee files, track upcoming certificate expirations, and proactively coordinate recertifications for active field crews.

Social Media & Brand Management: Collaborate on company social media pages (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) to actively build our local employer brand, create engaging hiring content, and network within the oilfield community.

Shared On-Call Support: Participate in a team-wide 24-hour on-call rotation schedule to promptly resolve real-time crew shortages, rig emergency call-outs, and operational staffing requests.

What We Need From You

Team-First Mindset: A strong commitment to collaborative teamwork, clear internal communication, and a willingness to back up colleagues during peak operational windows.

Local Availability: Must be currently residing in the Calgary area and available to work full-time on-site, Monday through Friday.

Industry Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in recruitment, crew coordination, HR coordination, or logistics—ideally within Western Canadian oil and gas, energy services, or contract drilling.

HR & Compliance Competency: Strong administrative accuracy with experience handling employment contracts, maintaining confidential file systems, and a foundational awareness of Alberta Employment Standards.

Safety Ticket Knowledge: Familiarity with standard Energy Safety Canada training certifications and safety ticketing structures.

Digital & Social Media Savvy: Comfortable navigating Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), corporate databases, and utilizing social media channels professionally to attract field talent.

High Resiliency: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the adaptability and composure required to handle high-pressure, fast-changing rig schedules and on-call rotations.

Pay: $50,000.00-$85,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Dental care
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • On-site parking
  • RRSP match
