Join a major mining project in the Sudbury Basin that is shaping the future of one of Canada's most significant critical minerals operations. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to support maintenance planning and scheduling activities for electrical systems and infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Our client is a large-scale underground mining joint venture in the Sudbury Basin focused on the development of critical mineral resources. Backed by significant investment and industry-leading expertise, the operation offers employees the opportunity to contribute to a modern mining project that supports innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth in Northern Ontario. This is a contract position – scheduled until mid 2027.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Team, the Electrical Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating electrical maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance. This role works closely with maintenance supervisors, trades personnel, operations teams, and contractors to ensure maintenance work is properly scoped, resourced, and executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed maintenance work plans for electrical systems, power distribution equipment, substations, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Coordinate weekly and monthly maintenance schedules with operations and maintenance stakeholders.
  • Estimate labour, material, equipment, and contractor requirements for planned work.
  • Support shutdown planning and execution activities.
  • Maintain CMMS data including work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, equipment history, and asset information.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and contractor services to meet maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor work progress and recommend schedule adjustments when required.
  • Generate maintenance performance reports and support budgeting activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation including drawings, specifications, manuals, and equipment records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency, reliability, and spare parts strategies.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technician program, or a certified Industrial Electrician trade qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical maintenance experience in mining, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Previous maintenance planning experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
