Roadways Literacy Academy Saskatoon Inc. is a private school & tutoring studio in Saskatoon, SK, specializing in students who learn in different ways. We understand not only the challenges but also the unique gifts that some children possess. Although most of our students have a Specific Learning Disability, namely dyslexia, no matter what the diagnosis (or lack of diagnosis), we strive to work with each child’s uniqueness, meeting students where they are on the learning pathway, and facilitating their journey with our expertise and compassion.
Roadways Literacy Academy is an elementary/middle School with an enrollment of approx. 50 full time students (Gr 1- Gr 8) and 100+ tutoring students with the intention of future growth. If you are an individual who is looking to really make a difference in a student’s life, then this position is for you.
As we grow so does our need for experienced individuals, Roadways is excited to be expanding our staff and are accepting applications for Full Time or Part Time Tutors.
As a Tutor of Roadways Literacy Academy, you will be responsible for assisting students with their academic challenges particularly in literacy and math. Our literacy program is unique to us and will require training on your part before beginning work with our students. We are looking for strong individuals who can work independently with their students. An individual with a special passion in the field of special education would feel very much at home in our environment.
Hours: At this time, we are looking for tutors for after-school/evening hours and potentially weekend hours
Salary: subject to experience, qualifications, and level of instructional requirement
Applicants will have:
1. Patience and compassion and a love of working with children
2. Ability to work well with others
3. Willingness to communicate and meet with parents/caregivers to provide regular updates on student progress
4. Flexibility and understanding when schedule changes and new students are admitted
5. Creativity (programming, classroom decor, special events)
6. More than 1 year of hands-on experience working with children in a teaching environment, Bachelor of Education is an asset but not a necessity.
7. Skill with technology; Zoom and Teams for meetings
8. Willingness to be an ambassador for our school
