Opportunity Overview
The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to problem gambling prevention. For more than 40 years, we have worked to reduce gambling risk by creating and delivering innovative awareness and information programs in Ontario and around the world. We work with priority populations, including youth, young adults, ethnocultural populations, and the public, to educate people on the risks of gambling, how to mitigate those risks, and how to access support. We work with industry, regulators and government to promote the adoption of improved play safeguards through advisory services, best practices research, knowledge mobilization, standards development, and the RG Check accreditation program.

As a member of the Advisory Services team, and reporting to the Associate Director, the Instructional Design and Training Specialist will design, develop and deliver high-impact learning programs for domestic and international clients. This role combines instructional design expertise with client engagement to create practical, evidence-informed training solutions that build awareness and reduce gambling-related harms.

Key competencies required include very strong writing skills, previous experience developing training programs, a keen attention to detail, an ability to engage and motivate diverse learners, and enthusiasm for working collaboratively from a public health lens.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop creative responsible gambling training programs and materials for a variety of audiences that are aligned with current research and adult-learning best practices, and that support key priorities and industry standards
• Deliver a range of training solutions that includes interactive digital methods, micro-learning, self-paced learning, facilitator-led sessions, as well as job aids and other accompanying resources
• Use learning management systems and other programs for development and design, and stay current with emerging methodologies and industry trends in learning and development to support innovative learning solutions
• Lead the development of select training products independently, while also contributing to larger collaborative initiatives
• Conduct training reviews, needs assessments, and evaluations to ensure alignment with client objectives
• Collaborate with clients, subject matter experts, and internal teams to deliver high-quality training on time
• Select and manage resources including external vendors to support, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Superior writing ability and skill in conveying complex concepts clearly and effectively for a range of audiences
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in adult education, health promotion, human services, communications, or equivalent; CTDP designation is an asset
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing projects with a proven ability to manage schedules and achieve deliverables
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing training programs
• Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and training technologies
• Exceptional communication and facilitation skills (both in person and virtual)
• Creative and strategic thinking
• Excellent relationship development skills with an ability to respond to questions from clients with a high degree of professionalism
• Strong organizational skills
• Attention to detail coupled with a strong commitment to high quality work
• Enthusiastic, collaborative team player with demonstrated ability to show initiative
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change when presented with shifting priorities and deadlines
• Experience working with diverse populations, cultural awareness, and ability to communicate in an inclusive and equitable manner
• Experience in gambling harm prevention or knowledge of the gambling industry is an asset

Salary range is $62,400-$78,000 annually commensurate with skills and experience.
