About Unionville College

Unionville College (UC) is a highly regarded, co-educational private school in Markham, Ontario, offering an advanced and enriched curriculum from Pre-Casa through Grade 12. With a strong focus on academics, arts, athletics, and technology integration (STEAM), UC prepares students to thrive as confident, compassionate, and capable learners.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Head of Curriculum & Technology, the Digital & Curriculum Innovation Specialist supports teaching and learning across all divisions from Casa Montessori through Grade 12 by working at the intersection of curriculum implementation, digital learning, and educator capacity building. A significant part of this role involves leading the integration of educational technology across the school. Professional learning is another core responsibility. The specialist designs and facilitates PD that is practice-focused and responsive to what teachers actually need, not just informational

The specialist also maintains a centralized teacher resource hub continuously curating and updating planning resources, instructional tools, and curriculum materials for staff across the school — and supports structured literacy implementation in the Montessori division, including re-rollout, coaching support, and connection to screening and diagnostic data for small group instructional planning. Throughout all areas of the role, the specialist collaborates closely with educators, lead teachers, IT, and administrators, using the school’s project management tools to track and communicate progress across active initiatives.

The ideal candidate is genuinely energized by the intersection of curriculum, technology, and teacher growth. You are organized enough to manage multiple concurrent projects, relational enough to work effectively across divisions, and practical enough to know that the best PD is modelled, not just explained. You bring curiosity about digital tools without being tool-led, and you understand that the goal of innovation is always better learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with teachers and lead teachers to implement Ontario curriculum expectations, develop instructional resources, and support student learning outcomes
  • Supporting the ongoing development and refinement of Long-Range Plans (LRPs) and Unit Plans, with a focus on quality and coherence
  • Sourcing and evaluating high-quality curriculum resources across subject areas and grade levels, informed by curriculum review and teacher feedback
  • Working in close coordination with IT and administration to:
  • Lead device rollouts and support teacher readiness for classroom integration
  • Coordinate the launch and adoption of approved digital learning platforms, with targeted support for teachers at earlier stages of adoption
  • Support technology integration across divisions, including platforms at both the pilot and full-rollout stages
  • Evaluate and manage the school’s AI tool ecosystem, ensuring platforms are appropriately matched to divisional needs and grade bands

For Professional learning, the responsibilities include:

  • Designing and facilitating professional development that builds staff capacity in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and digital learning
  • Creating and managing PD Day schedules aligned with the school calendar and current school improvement priorities
  • Documenting findings and teacher needs from grade team meetings to keep professional learning grounded in real classroom context

Qualifications and Expereince

Required

  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience, ideally spanning more than one division
  • Demonstrated experience supporting teachers in curriculum planning and instructional resource development
  • Familiarity with Ontario curriculum frameworks, including the 2023 Ontario Language curriculum, Growing Success, and KTAC achievement categories
  • Experience designing and facilitating professional development for adult learners
  • Comfort evaluating and implementing educational technology tools in a school context

Preferred

  • Experience working in or alongside Montessori environments
  • Knowledge of structured literacy frameworks, including the Science of Reading and explicit phonics instruction
  • Experience working with literacy screening and diagnostic tools to inform instructional planning
  • Experience working in a secondary school context (Grades 7–12)
  • Graduate degree or additional qualifications in curriculum, literacy, or educational technology
  • Experience using project management tools to coordinate and track school-wide initiatives
