Work Model: Remote
Location: Toronto, ON
Term: 3-month contract, 40 hour works
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an Interim Controller - Reporting for a contract engagement. This role is focused on supporting the finance function, requiring strong ownership of consolidated reporting, financial statement preparation, and month-end, quarter-end close activities across a multi-entity structure.
The successful candidate will bring deep technical accounting knowledge, strong public company reporting experience, and the ability to operate independently in a hands-on environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior finance professional who is comfortable stepping in quickly and taking full responsibility for core financial reporting deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements across a multi-entity structure
Take ownership of month-end and quarter-end close activities, including general ledger review and financial reporting support
Manage consolidation processes and ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting outputs
Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to complex accounting matters, including equity accounting, investments, associates, and joint ventures
Prepare and review external reporting schedules and supporting working papers
Support audit processes by responding to external auditor requests and owning assigned reporting areas
Work closely with finance leadership on reporting requirements, issue resolution, and ad hoc analysis
Help ensure reporting timelines are met with minimal oversight
Contribute to process improvements where needed across financial reporting and consolidation activities
Qualifications
CPA designation preferred, open to other designations and experience.
Big 4 public accounting background preferred
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
Extensive experience with consolidated financial statements and multi-entity reporting
Experience with resources or mining industry experience preferred
Investment accounting and hands-on experience with equity accounting, associates, and joint ventures would be an asset.
ERP experience (SAP, NetSuite, Workiva, HFM)
Proven ability to lead month-end and quarter-end close processes
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of reporting deliverables
