Family Physician – Virtual Menopause & Midlife Care

Independent Contractor | Alberta, Ontario & British Columbia | Fully Virtual

Effica Health is building a national virtual model of specialized menopause and women’s midlife care. We are seeking family physicians in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia who are interested in a flexible, highly supported independent-contractor opportunity focused on clinical judgment, treatment, and patient care.

This is not a traditional primary-care practice. Effica provides the clinical preparation, interdisciplinary team, technology, documentation support, scheduling, and operational infrastructure around each consultation so physicians can focus on delivering evidence-based care.

Role Overview

The Family Physician is an independent contractor engaged by Effica Health to provide evidence-based virtual medical care for individuals accessing menopause and midlife health services.

The physician practices independently within their professional scope of practice while working collaboratively within Effica’s interdisciplinary care model. Physicians provide comprehensive virtual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and ongoing management of patients experiencing menopause-related symptoms and associated long-term health concerns.

Effica’s collaborative care model is designed to support physicians by reducing administrative burden and providing structured clinical information before each consultation. Through the Effica Platform, physicians have access to comprehensive digital health intake, evidence-based clinical pathways, AI-assisted clinical documentation, and integrated virtual care workflows, enabling them to focus on decision-making and individualized patient care.

Patients complete Effica’s proprietary Precision Health Scan, a comprehensive digital assessment that captures menopause symptoms, medical and reproductive history, medications, lifestyle factors, long-term health risks, and other clinically relevant data. Before the physician consultation, each patient receives an initial assessment from a nurse or pharmacist, to review and validate patient information, provided patient education and identified care needs.

The Effica Platform integrates the Precision Health Scan, clinician assessments, clinical documentation, evidence-based clinical pathways, virtual care workflows, and clinical decision-support resources into a single practice environment. Physicians are further supported through collaboration with registered nurses, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, obstetrician-gynecologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team when consultation or coordinated care is appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

· Conduct comprehensive virtual medical assessments for patients presenting with menopause and midlife health concerns, supported by the Effica Platform and collaborative care model.

· Develop individualized management plans based on clinical assessment, patient preferences, and shared decision-making.

· Prescribe medications, including menopausal hormone therapy and non-hormonal prescription medicationstherapies, where clinically appropriate.

· Order and follow up on laboratory investigations, diagnostic testing, and imaging when indicated.

· Initiate referrals to specialists or other healthcare professionals as appropriate.

· Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify management plans as clinically appropriate.

Collaborative Care

· Work collaboratively within Effica’s interdisciplinary care model to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.

· Participate in coordinated care planning to optimize patient outcomes.

· Communicate relevant clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the healthcare team and, where appropriate, the patient’s primary care provider.

Effica Platform & Clinical Decision Support

· Utilize evidence-based clinical pathways, clinical resources, and decision-support tools available through the Effica Platform.

· Utilize Effica’s AI-assisted clinical documentation tools to support efficient documentation while maintaining responsibility for reviewing, editing, approving, and signing all final medical records.

Documentation & Quality

· Complete clinical documentation in accordance with Effica documentation standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

· Deliver care that aligns with current evidence-based clinical guidelines, professional standards, and applicable legislation.

The Opportunity

Effica physicians work within a structured, referral-based virtual care model supported by registered nurses, clinical pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary clinical team.

Illustrative annualized contractor earnings:

• British Columbia: approximately $300,000–$336,000
• Alberta: Up to approximately $336,000

These figures are based on approximately 35 paid clinical hours per week. Actual compensation will depend on province, experience, agreed clinical capacity, and schedule. This is an independent-contractor opportunity; annualized figures are not a salary or guaranteed income unless expressly provided for in the contractor agreement.

Contractor Expectations

· Maintain active registration and licensure in good standing with the applicable provincial medical regulatory authority.

· Maintain CMPA or equivalent medical liability insurance.

· Deliver professional medical services in accordance with the Independent Contractor Agreement.

· Provide virtual consultations through the Effica Platform.

· Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy legislation and organizational privacy policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

· Medical degree with eligibility for independent practice.

· Active registration in good standing with the applicable provincial medical regulatory authority.

· Appropriate professional liability protection through CMPA or equivalent.

· Demonstrated excellence in patient-centred clinical care.

· Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and shared decision-making skills.

· Commitment to evidence-based medicine and collaborative interdisciplinary practice.
