Full job description

Galaxy Freightline is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to join our Montreal operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of North American freight operations, with the ability to manage high-volume dispatching, coordinate with drivers, and handle time-sensitive loads efficiently. This position requires excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth daily operations and on-time delivery performance.
Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily dispatch operations for company drivers and owner-operators.
  • Manage and update load information in the Transportation Management System (TMS) with full accuracy.
  • Track shipments proactively, ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries while maintaining communication with customers and drivers.
  • Optimize equipment utilization and coordinate with other terminals to balance truck availability.
  • Monitor driver hours of service (HOS) and compliance with FMCSA/NSC regulations.
  • Handle appointment scheduling, route planning, and communication with shippers and receivers.
  • Manage trip-related documents (BOLs, PODs, customs paperwork) and ensure timely submission to accounting.
  • Resolve operational issues such as delays, mechanical breakdowns, and weather impacts through effective communication and decision-making.
  • Coordinate with the Operations, Safety, and Maintenance teams to maintain fleet productivity and compliance.
  • Provide professional customer service and maintain constant communication with internal departments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in dispatching within the trucking or logistics industry (Flatbed, Dry Van, or Reefer experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. geography, including highway routes, border crossings, and major freight corridors.
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) – experience with TransPlus Fleet Manager or similar software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ELD systems (e.g., Samsara, Motive, Geotab) and load-tracking platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Availability for flexible working hours, including weekends or evenings when required.
