Overview
Living Independently For Equality (L.I.F.E.) is seeking an experienced Program Coordinator to oversee the delivery of residential, community, outreach and respite services for adults with developmental disabilities and other complex support needs.
This is a senior operational position requiring demonstrated supervisory experience, sound judgement, strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple programs, employees and competing priorities.
The successful candidate must have experience supervising employees and coordinating human-service programs. This position is not intended as an entry-level transition from direct-care work into management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and ongoing supervision to Residential Supervisors and direct-support employees.
- Oversee assigned residential, community, outreach and respite programs.
- Monitor service delivery to ensure Individual needs, funding requirements, Agency policies and documentation standards are being met.
- Complete regular visits to service locations and review Individual and program documentation.
- Develop, implement and monitor Individual Support Plans and other service plans.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of behavioural and risk-management strategies when required.
- Review referrals and assist in determining appropriate staffing, supports and service requirements for new Individuals.
- Recruit, interview and participate in the selection of employees.
- Provide employee orientation, coaching, performance management and performance appraisals.
- Address employee performance, attendance and operational concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with guardians, families, Support Home providers, government representatives, health professionals and other community stakeholders.
- Review incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up, documentation and corrective action.
- Ensure employee schedules and program coverage meet operational and Individual needs.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and complete required administrative documentation.
- Respond to changing situations, staffing issues and emergencies and make appropriate operational decisions.
- Participate in the Agency's after-hours on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A diploma or degree in Human Services, Disability Studies, Rehabilitation, Social Sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressive supervisory or management experience, preferably within disability, residential, community or human services.
- Demonstrated experience supervising employees, addressing performance concerns and managing day-to-day program operations.
- Experience developing, implementing and monitoring Individual Support Plans.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic record/database systems.
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check and driver's abstract.
Strong Assets
Preference may be given to candidates with experience:
- Supporting adults with developmental disabilities, mental-health concerns and complex support needs.
- Managing residential or community disability-service programs.
- Working with Alberta's Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program.
- Working collaboratively with AHS/Home Care, AISH, OPG/OPT and other government or community partners.
- Managing critical incidents, behavioural concerns and complex staffing situations.
- Coordinating multiple service locations and teams.
The Person We Are Looking For

This position requires someone who is organized, dependable and able to manage a significant amount of information while maintaining effective relationships with Individuals, families, employees and external professionals.
You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a management team and understand that disability services can require flexibility when unexpected situations arise.

- Primarily Monday to Friday
