Full job description

This is a call to the designers, the creators, the lovers of learning.

A BIT ABOUT US

TuesdayAfternoon Media (TAM) is a creative design agency with a strong focus on strategic learning design, located in the heart of Leslieville. We are driven by curiosity and we craft with innovation to develop the right solutions to any problem.

THE CHALLENGE

TAM is looking for a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) to join our team. We’re looking for a strategist, a consultant, a writer and a creator. We want someone who will work directly with our clients and alongside our creative team to develop solutions that make an impact.

THE TEAM

You’ll be joining a team of designers, strategists, and overall solution focused people on a mission to solve the challenges of a changing world. We’re a highly specialized group with various backgrounds and areas of expertise, but we all have one thing in common: We’re problem solvers. We’re prepared to learn which solutions will impact our clients ability to achieve their goals.

Our Learning Experience Designers are leaders, storytellers, and courageous trail blazers who leverage the full range of methods and techniques to deliver a nuanced understanding of learners and their needs. Self-starters by nature, they thrive in fast paced, fluid environments that allow team members to leverage their strengths and passions to influence what we do and how we do it.

The discovery and solutions will increase the value of TAM to our clients, making them feel heard, increasing their confidence, and ensuring that next time they have a problem to solve, TAM is their first call.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a TAM-er, you’ll get to use your know-how and passion for learning to make a direct impact on our clients. You’ll expand your skill set, develop industry expertise, and influence the design of learning solutions, large and small. You’ll partner with your fellow designers advising on industry trends and learning best practices, discovering and synthesizing client needs, and building innovative, scalable solutions.

THE SKILL SET

  • Consultative problem solver with solution design experience and proven track record of success
  • Design enthusiast that can translate complex or technical concepts, making them easy for anyone to understand
  • Naturally curious and skilled at asking questions that will help uncover a core challenge a team is trying to solve
  • Active listener that can take the learnings from conversations and form proposed solutions to clients that are actionable and digestible
  • Skilled presenter who can deliver informative and effective pitch presentations and creative briefs
  • History of building strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Experience applying human-centred approaches to solution design, including creative problem-solving and design thinking.

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU'LL

  • Comprehend the initiatives, strategies, and goals of our current clients
  • Fully participate in and lead design meetings and discovery discussions with our clients
  • Gather requirements for custom development and work with our internal team to determine feasibility of the custom solution
  • Present proof of concept, and in some cases full solutions, to our clients and then jump into building with both feet
  • Become a strategic partner to the entire TAM Production team

WITHIN 6 TO 12 MONTHS, YOU'LL

  • Tackle projects that contribute to the strategic success of TAM and our client partners
  • Identify patterns in the way LXDs add value to the client experience and develop best practices to continuously deliver that value
  • Lead monthly feedback meetings and advocate for the needs of our clients
  • Serve as a mentor for new hires, sharing knowledge, best practices and real time feedback with your peers

This is a hybrid role designed with flexibility in mind.

We encourage our team to work where they do their best thinking and creating - whether that’s at home or in our pet-friendly Leslieville studio. At the same time, we value collaboration and connection, so there will be days when being in the studio or on-site with clients is required. To make this balance work, employees should live within a commutable distance of our Leslieville studio.

At TAM, we also enjoy TAM-paid extended health benefits, an Employee Assistance Program, paid vacation days that increase over your tenure, birthday days off, holiday studio closures and learning allowances for conferences, courses etc.

The hiring salary range for this full-time role is CAD $60,000–$90,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. This is for an existing vacancy.

Our organization fosters an inclusive and diverse team. We encourage applications from qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

Please submit your application to careers@tuesdayafternoon.net with Learning Experience Designer in the subject line. We thank all applicants that apply and appreciate your patience; due to a high volume of responses we will review all applicants, however only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

We do not utilize any AI tools in our recruitment or hiring process. We thank all applicants for their interest; should we wish to speak further, we will contact you directly!
