Primary Purpose

An Optical Inventory Receiver is responsible for the lifecycle of optical products including receiving, inspecting and distributing frames, lenses and accessories to the appropriate departments. They ensure that all incoming inventory matches orders for quality, quantity and accuracy, while maintaining detailed records in an inventory management system.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Receiving and Quality Control:

  • Inspect all incoming shipments for damage, defects, or shortages and resolve issues when necessary.
  • Verify shipment accuracy by comparing physical items to packing slips and invoices.
  • Process returns for damaged, recalled, or slow-moving items.

· Data Entry & Inventory Maintenance:

  • Input product details, including codes, pricing, and quantities, into the clinic’s inventory management software.
  • Tag inventory with product codes and price for display in dispensary.
  • Distribute frame cases and lenses to appropriate departments.
  • Track orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to reconcile digital data with actual stock.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with inventory control, or a similar role is an asset.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in identifying objects, SKU numbers, and detecting defects.

· Technical Skills: Proficiency with inventory management software, computer systems and a solid understanding of Microsoft office (with an emphasis on Excel) is required.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors and coordinate cross-functionally with opticians and clinical staff.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy packages (up to 50 lbs).
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarity with optical products, including frame types and lens materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$28.00 per hour
