Job Description

Dalhousie Food Services is seeking an Events and Marketing Assistant to support the Marketing Manager in executing marketing plans and programs focused on health and wellness, sustainability, and student engagement across campus. This role will assist with event planning, marketing communications, and tracking the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience.


Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Events and Marketing Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting daily marketing operations, assisting with event logistics, and helping ensure the success of key business initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and coordination of on campus events to boost student engagement and participation.
  • Assist with implementation marketing plans for campus food services.
  • Assist with the distribution of marketing materials (digital and print) for initiatives related to health and wellness, sustainability, and catering.
  • Support the management of feedback programs to measure customer satisfaction and engagement.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating digital assets, including social media accounts, websites, and digital signage.
  • Support with the creation and schedule of social media content to promote upcoming events, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Provide on-site event coverage, capturing photos, videos, and live updates for social media platforms.
  • Process updates to the official website content when required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the university’s Marketing & Communications department to support cross-promotional activities.
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of events, including organizing materials, coordinating equipment, and ensuring proper venue arrangement. Provide troubleshoot support as needed.
  • Ensure campus calendars and signage are consistently updated across all locations to reflect current events, promotions, and announcements.
  • Help manage the timely distribution of promotional materials (posters, banners, digital signage) to various locations.
  • Track and manage inventory of event and marketing supplies.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and business review reports.
  • Assist with audits to ensure food service locations meet branding and operational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field is an asset. Relevant transferable skills are also considered.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with food services is an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as part of event setup and teardown.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing digital marketing tools (e.g., social media platforms, website content management).
  • Must be able to work as a part of a team and independently as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.

The pay range for this position is $16.75 - $20.00.
