Full job description

Office Location: Downtown Vancouver

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Shift Time: Day Shift, 8 hours. (Availability between 10:00am-12:00am)
4 week rotating schedule (1 weekend off per month with consecutive days off)

This is a specialized surveillance and investigation role, not a general security guard position. Candidates must bring proven experience in CCTV monitoring, Retail loss prevention/theft detection, incident reporting, and working with Law Enforcement. Applications without the required qualifications will not be considered.

We provide exceptional support to our client’s by monitoring their high-risk stores, ensuring a safe and secure environment for both customers and staff. We are seeking a dedicated and professional CCTV Support Operator to join our team, in either the Downtown office.

Job Description: As a CCTV Support Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of high-risk stores. Your primary responsibility will be to provide real-time support to store teams, particularly during critical incidents such as theft, threats, and physical violence. You will maintain regular communication with store personnel, monitoring activities through live CCTV feeds, escalating incidents through proper channels and connecting with Law Enforcement. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and handle unexpected situations will be essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CCTV Monitoring: Continuously monitor store activities using live CCTV to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
  • Theft Detection and Prevention: Proactively identify instances of theft or shoplifting via CCTV, assessing the situation accurately and escalating as needed.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain regular communication with store teams, management, and Law Enforcement ensuring clear and professional direction.
  • Incident Review and Archiving: Review incidents captured on CCTV and accurately archive them into a case management platform, and sending detailed reports through proper channels.
  • Professionalism: Consistently demonstrate professionalism in all interactions and communications.
  • Ability to Handle Any Situation: Demonstrate the capacity to adjust and manage any challenges or unexpected events that may arise.
  • Computer Proficiency: Efficiently utilize various software applications and technological tools.

Qualifications:

  • Associates, Bachelors, or Certificates in Criminology, Cyber Security, Communications, Psychology, Crime Analysis, Forensics, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related fields is an asset.
  • 3 years min. experience as a Surveillance Operator, or similar role.
  • 3 Years min. experience in Retail Loss Prevention/Theft Detection, or similar role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with various software applications.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and analyzing CCTV footage.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all communications and interactions.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle and escalate incidents appropriately.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, offering support and assistance as needed.
  • Ability to adjust to changing job requirements as this is a brand-new position and this role will grow and change.

Additional Information:

This is a day shift position, but the shift times will likely vary throughout the week to align with peak store activity times.

Training and support will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role.

Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
