Full job description

Morgan Investments Group ("MIG") is a private investment office with a growing portfolio of construction, industrial, infrastructure, and operating businesses.

We are looking for a Controller who wants to be more than an accountant. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day finance leadership of two growing operating companies and will work directly with ownership and operations to improve performance, profitability, and cash flow.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that finance is about more than producing financial statements. We need someone who wants to understand how projects are performing, where cash is being generated, where risks exist, and how the business makes money.

If you're an entrepreneurial finance professional who thinks like an operator and wants a seat at the table, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Own the finance function across multiple operating companies.
  • Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, forecasts, and business performance analysis.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, banking requirements, and liquidity planning.
  • Lead project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and profitability analysis.
  • Ensure billing is timely, collections are effective, and cash conversion remains a priority.
  • Partner with project managers, estimators, and operational leaders to improve performance.
  • Coordinate month-end, year-end, audit, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Build processes, controls, and reporting tools that support a growing organization.
  • Provide insight and recommendations that help management make better decisions.

Who You Are

  • CPA designation (or nearing completion) with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in construction, contracting, industrial services environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Job costing
  • Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Billing and collections
  • Comfortable moving between detailed accounting work and broader business discussions.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent communicator who can work effectively with both field operations and senior leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and willing to roll up your sleeves when needed.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to own the finance function within growing businesses and work directly alongside decision-makers. You won't be confined to month-end reporting or stuck in a narrow accounting lane. You'll help drive business performance, influence strategy, and play a meaningful role in building the next stage of growth.

Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Pay: $115,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
