Position: Behaviour Intervener/Child Care Worker

Position Type: 6-10 hours per week with the potential to increase basis regional growth

Location: Vernon

Schedule: Weekdays (Mornings and after school)

Wage: $24-$28/hour depending on experience with wage reviews annually

Scope of Work:

We are seeking Behaviour Intervener/Child Care Workers to work one-on-one with our clients to implement client specific Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)intervention plans that are developed by our team of specialists.

Our clients have Autism and/or other developmental disabilities, and we are searching for candidates that have experience working with the special needs population and can work independently to implement behaviour programs. The successful candidate will be required to work in the client’s home to help them achieve their specified goals.

Qualifications:*

  • Minimum 3 months experience (volunteer, practicum, or paid) working with special needs populations, preferably Autism
  • Post secondary education in a related area of study is preferred such as: Disability and Applied Behaviour Analysis, Special Education, Child & Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Psychology or Social Work
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record.
  • Ability to set boundaries and work professionally in client’s homes

Candidates must be over 19 years old to apply and are willing to complete a Criminal Record

Check and obtain their Emergency First Aid/CPR.

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to work with clients who may exhibit challenging behaviors, including aggression.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols, including de-escalation techniques, regular team check-ins, and MANDT training.
  • There is potential for workers to experience verbal aggression, such as swearing, or physical aggression, which could result in injury.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
