Economic Development Manager



Reports to: Director of Planning and Development
Department: Planning and Development
Start Date: September 14, 2026

This newly established role represents an exciting step forward for the R.M., creating a dedicated focus on advancing economic growth through investment attraction, business retention and expansion, and proactive stakeholder engagement. Serving as the boots-on-the-ground lead for economic development, the position acts as the central point of contact connecting the municipality with businesses, developers, and regional partners, while promoting the R.M. and guiding investment through development processes, servicing requirements, and regulatory pathways.

What you’ll do:
As the Economic Development Manager, you will:

  • Support economic development strategy through research, trend analysis, work plan implementation, and preparation of reports/presentations for leadership and Council.
  • Serve as primary contact for business/investment inquiries, promoting the R.M. while coordinating clear information across departments on processes, service, and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Council, partners, businesses, and government stakeholders.
  • Contribute to marketing, branding, and promotional materials for business attraction and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor funding/programs, support grant research, and coordinate special projects aligned with R.M. priorities.


What You Bring:
In this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Stakeholder Relations – Builds collaborative relationships with businesses, developers, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Business Development – Drives growth via marketing, branding, sales, and lead generation with strong communication skills.
  • Municipal Knowledge – Understands planning, land use, servicing, and approval processes.


Qualification and Experience

  • A university degree in a relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, business development, investment attraction, municipal or land development, or a related field, including direct, on-the-ground experience working with stakeholders and projects.


Position Information

  • Employment Status: Permanent full-time
  • Location: 111 Pinehouse, Saskatoon Sk.
  • Wage Range: $97,863-$116,854; salary will be commensurate with experience and education
