Communications Specialist - 18 Month Contract

Summary

The Communications Specialist will support, recommend, innovative and create both internal and external communications. This person will work closely with Talent & Development and IT teams to ensure the smooth implementation of any new initiatives, as well as the management of existing platforms and systems. The communications will be initiated via our intranet, our visual display platform, social media and other digital mediums.

An ideal candidate should be very passionate about the newest technology and social platforms, have strong communication skills, and have some graphic design (Canva), video editing (Adobe), and content creation experience. The ability to learn new processes and systems quickly and work cross-functionally is critical to success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create content for and update our communication channels (Workvivo, FGF/24, FGF Home, etc.)
  • Create content for and update the FGF intranet site
  • Create monthly social media content calendars and update LinkedIn, Instagram and other relevant social media platforms
  • Support Talent branding initiatives through content creation
  • Increase engagement and information/knowledge dissemination across all communication platforms
  • Pull analytics to provide insights into performance of communication channels and to make recommendations on how to improve communication channels
  • Facilitate frequent training sessions regarding communications technology both one on one and in classroom
  • Research, recommend and implement, in collaboration with our IT Business Partner, innovative company-wide communication tools
  • Identify communication gaps and implement new technology and processes to increase efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with T&D Event Coordinator on event materials (posters, invites, other collateral) and provide support at events
  • Work with teams to integrate change management communication activities
  • Work with internal stakeholders to create advertisements, banners, invites, and other collateral
  • Manage correspondence with external agencies and partners for various forms of media.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a communications role within a corporate setting
  • Technically savvy with a passion for learning new systems and technology
  • Copywriting experience to create clear, engaging copy and content
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Detail oriented, with a track record of completing projects on time
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills quickly
  • Ability to influence individuals and build consensus throughout the organization
  • Patience working all members of the team
  • Team player with a positive attitude and ability to hit the ground running
  • Advanced MS Power Point knowledge and proficiency with other MS Office products including Outlook and Excel
  • Experience with Social Media administration (Workplace, Instagram, LinkedIn, Glassdoor)
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other graphic design software
  • Videography and photography experience an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Business, Marketing, Communications, or Training preferred
