Housing Coordinator

Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $50,700 – $64,350

The Opportunity

YWCA Banff is seeking a thoughtful, steady, and highly organized Housing Coordinator to support safe, stable, and affordable housing in the Bow Valley.

This is meaningful, practical, people-centred work. As part of YWCA Banff’s Residential Programs team, the Housing Coordinator helps deliver our Long-Term Affordable Housing Program, supporting the systems, relationships, and day-to-day coordination that help residents maintain housing stability.

This role is for someone who understands that housing is more than a place to live. It is safety, dignity, connection, and the foundation people need to move forward.

You will be a key point of contact for residents, applicants, internal teams, and community partners. You will coordinate housing applications, waitlists, leases, inspections, communications, reporting, and resident follow-up, while helping strengthen a program that responds to real housing pressures in our community.

About You

You are a strong coordinator who brings care to both people and process.

You are detail-oriented, responsive, and able to manage many moving parts without losing sight of the people behind the paperwork. You can keep records accurate, timelines moving, and communication clear.

You are adaptable and steady in a workplace where priorities, resident needs, and operational realities can shift quickly. You are comfortable responding to change, solving problems as they arise, and looking for practical solutions that improve systems, reduce barriers, and support residents more effectively.

You bring sound judgement, professionalism, and compassion to sensitive work. You know how to listen, maintain confidentiality, assess urgency, and work with others when residents may need additional support.

You may come with experience in affordable housing, social services, emergency shelter, property management, nonprofit programming, or community services. What matters most is that you are steady, practical, values-driven, solutions-focused, and committed to supporting housing stability within YWCA Banff and across the Bow Valley.

Why YWCA Banff

YWCA Banff is a community-based, feminist organization with over 100 years of service in Banff and the Bow Valley. Every employee plays an important role in shaping a safe and inclusive community that empowers women and girls in support of our vision of a thriving, equitable society.

Our Residential Programs support a continuum of housing and shelter services, including Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Bridge Housing, and Long-Term Affordable Housing with supports.

We believe meaningful work starts with feeling supported, safe, and well. As part of our team, you can expect:

  • An annual salary of $50,700 - $64,350
  • Vacation Leave and Birthday Leave
  • Wellness Days
  • Health and Dental benefits
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) after one year of employment
  • Ongoing learning and professional development
  • Meaningful work that directly supports housing stability
  • Subsidized staff accommodation, subject to availability

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will help ensure YWCA Banff’s Long-Term Affordable Housing Program is well coordinated, compliant, responsive, and centred on resident stability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day delivery and ongoing improvement of the Long-Term Affordable Housing Program.
  • Manage housing applications, waitlists, eligibility documentation, resident communication, move-ins, move-outs, leases, and program records.
  • Maintain accurate housing data, resident files, occupancy records, reporting tools, and property management information.
  • Track key program information, including occupancy, waitlist activity, rent collection, inspections, maintenance follow-up, and resident feedback.
  • Support residents from a trauma-informed and client-centred lens, including referrals, systems navigation, and collaboration with Residential Program Counsellors.
  • Coordinate inspections, unit walkthroughs, maintenance follow-up, building checks, and unit turnover processes with Facilities and Residential Programs.
  • Support housing policies, procedures, checklists, workflows, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone who brings a strong mix of coordination, communication, judgement, and care.

You bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Services, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 3 years of related experience in affordable housing, social services, emergency housing, property management, nonprofit programming, or community-based work.
  • Experience supporting program coordination, administration, delivery, or evaluation.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practice, housing retention, client-centred approaches, and community support systems.
  • Strong administrative and technical skills, including Microsoft Office and database or property management systems. Exact Estate experience is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, confidentiality, and follow-through.
  • Ability to assess urgency, manage competing priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, reconciliation, and YWCA Banff’s mission and values.

Encouragement to Apply

You do not need to meet every qualification to apply. If you bring strong, relevant experience and are excited about contributing to this work, we encourage you to share your story with us.
