LOCATION: St. John’s, NL
SALARY: $67,275.00 + Benefits
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)
START DATE: As Soon as Possible
Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a Payroll Administrator that will take total ownership of the accurate preparation and disbursement of non-unionized payroll and benefits. This position is accountable for all payroll related functions including payroll related tax compliance, payroll account reconciliations, benefit administration and miscellaneous payroll deductions.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Process semi-monthly payroll which includes, running POB reports, compiling all payroll data, entering raw data into payroll system, balance payroll, review and validate payroll, upload to bank, remit deductions and contributions, reporting and emailing payslips
- Liaise with benefit providers regarding the administration of benefits including Retirement, Health and Wellness (EAP), Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) claims
- Accurately administer leave processes (i.e. bereavement, maternity/parental, sick/LOA, vacations).
- Prepare monthly/yearly reports as required (i.e. vacation usage, sick/LOA etc.)
- Verify employment and salary confirmation letters
- Responsible for coordinating and pro-actively reviewing the payroll process and data
- Maintain employees files, issue ROE's, reconcile T4s and other related annual tax reporting
- Managing VIM Batch in SAP coding accounts payable invoices and send any received invoices for processing
- May be required to perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- 3+ years payroll experience.
- Certification from Canadian Payroll Association (CPA)
- Experience with the Oil and Gas sector and Drilling Contractors would be an asset
- Efficiency and ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness
- Attention to detail is essential and excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers, and vendors.
- Must possess sound analytical and reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions
- Must have the ability to work under pressure in time sensitive environments to meet challenging deadlines including outside of regular business hours as required
- Excellent knowledge of related Federal and Provincial payroll compliance legislation including Employment Standards, Canada Pension Plan, Worker's Compensation Act, Employment Insurance Act and Income Tax Act
