Thresholds Program Coordinator

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Supportive Housing Programs, the Program Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of Aunt Leah's Thresholds Program, a semi-supportive housing program for young mothers and their children. This role is responsible for supervising staff, coordinating program operations, supporting resident participation and life skills programming, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed services. Working collaboratively with staff, residents, funders, and community partners, the Program Coordinator oversees resident intakes, program activities, reporting, health and safety, and operational requirements while fostering a safe, supportive environment that promotes stability, independence, and positive outcomes for families. This position includes participation in a scheduled on-call rotation and requires flexibility to respond to operational needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Reports To: Manager of Supportive Housing Programs

Compensation: $33.87/hr.

Position Status: Temporary Full-Time (12 months), 37.5 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends based on operational needs.

Location: New Westminster , BC

Qualifications:

• 1 to 2 years post-secondary education in Human Services or Social Sciences, and/or a relevant combination of education and experience combined with general suitability
• 1 to 2 years of experience working with moms and babies in a housing setting

Requirements:

• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Local Police Information Check (including vulnerable sector)
• MCFD Contracted Agency Caregiver Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Clean Driver’s Abstract
• Proof of vehicle business insurance of $5 million liability (or willingness to obtain)
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid Level C with CPR & Baby Safety (or willingness to obtain)
• Agreement to uphold Aunt Leah’s Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines
• Food Safe Certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA):

• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and coaching skills, with the ability to make sound decisions, manage competing priorities, and work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with residents, staff, community partners, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and program coordination.
• Strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in dynamic situations.
• Trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally responsive approach to supporting young mothers and their children through a strengths-based lens.
• Ability to teach, mentor, and support life skills development while fostering resident engagement, independence, and positive outcomes.
• Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality, professional judgment, and ethical practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual meeting platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Program & Resident Participation:

• Coordinate resident intakes, referrals, waitlists, assessments, and discharge processes.
• Facilitate resident goal planning, review meetings, and life skills assessments while ensuring Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals are communicated and supported by the staff team.
• Plan and coordinate life skills programming, resident meetings, recreational activities, and incentive initiatives that promote engagement and independence.
• Monitor program needs, maintain program resources and manuals, and complete follow-up with former participants.

Staff Leadership & Supervision:

• Supervise, coach, schedule, and support front-line staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Provide leadership during crises and support staff in responding to complex situations.
• Monitor compliance with Society policies and procedures and contribute to staff performance management.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Supportive Housing Programs to ensure appropriate staffing and operational effectiveness.

Reporting & Program Administration

• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual program reporting, statistical tracking, and funder documentation.
• Assist with funding reports and evaluation processes to support program outcomes and sustainability.
• Monitor participant engagement and program performance to ensure funding and reporting requirements are achieved.

Financial Responsibilities

• Oversee participant petty cash and site expenditures in accordance with Society policies and budget guidelines.
• Review, approve, and maintain accurate financial records and receipts.

Health & Safety

• Ensure the residence and program spaces are safe, clean, and maintained in accordance with Society policies and MCFD standards.
• Coordinate emergency drills, routine safety inspections, and annual baby equipment inspections.
• Act as the Thresholds Health & Safety Warden, promoting a safe environment for residents, children, staff, and visitors.

Communication & Collaboration

• Lead team meetings and participate in organizational meetings and staff development.
• Maintain regular communication with the Manager of Supportive Housing Programs regarding resident needs, program operations, and crisis situations.
• Foster positive relationships with residents, former participants, and community partners while promoting program engagement and participation.
• Support organizational initiatives and represent Aunt Leah's at meetings and events as required.

Confidentiality & Professional Practice

• Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all resident information and program records.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and stored securely in accordance with organizational policies.
• Promote ethical practice and ensure compliance with Aunt Leah's policies, procedures, privacy standards, and professional codes of ethics.

On-Call

• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required
• Training is provided for on-call rotation

Physical Demands:

• This position requires some lifting of heavier objects

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed within a semi-supportive housing program serving young mothers and their children, with some periods of working independently.
• Temporary (12 months) Full-Time; 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours a day); generally, 9:00 – 5:00 pm; with occasional evening and weekend hours as operationally needed
• Primarily based at the Thresholds Program with occasional travel to meetings, training, or community events
• Participate in on call as scheduled
