Join our team!

We are seeking energetic, caring, and responsible Child Care Educators to join our school-age team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is a strong communicator, and is passionate about creating positive experiences for children within a licensed childcare program. This position is well suited to individuals pursuing careers in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Education, Social Work, Recreation, or other child- and family-focused professions. At CCNH, you will work alongside a supportive team to provide high-quality programs that promote inclusion, creativity, and positive child development.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement age-appropriate activities across all curriculum areas Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff Assist with daily routines such as nutrition breaks, transitions and site cleanliness Support children's emotional and social development Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passionate about working with school age children
  • Minimum one-year experience working with school-age children
  • Hold 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training as required by BC Childcare Licensing Knowledge of the 2019 BC Early Learning Frameworks and inclusive practice an asset
  • Hold a valid First Aid, Food Safe, clear Criminal Record and an immunization record. Knowledge of BC Childcare Licensing Regulations and child development.
  • Experience working with children with varying abilities in a diverse and inclusive setting.
  • Able to work in a team setting and experienced in working in a multi-cultural environment Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

About Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House:

Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is a welcoming, community-based organization dedicated to fostering belonging, dignity, and collective well-being throughout the Kensington–Cedar Cottage neighbourhood. Since 1972, Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House has been a leader in school-age childcare, creating safe, nurturing, and engaging environments for children aged 6 to 12 during their out-of-school hours. Our programs provide opportunities for children to learn, build relationships, develop confidence, and thrive within a caring community.

Employment Terms:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 2:30-6:00pm (18hrs/week) OR 7:30-9:00am AND 2:30-6:00pm (25.5hrs/week); occasional additional hours for meeting and professional development
  • Program Hours: Regular school days are 7:30am to 9:00am and 2:30pm-6:00pm. School closure days, including winter, spring and summer breaks, are 7:30am-6:00pm.
  • Type: Regular part-time
  • Wage: hourly rate of $21.33- $22.85/hr (ANHBC Wage Grid C2 Step 1-3 dependent on skills and experience) plus $6/hr Wage Enhancement for eligible Early Childhood Educators
  • Benefits: Excellent benefits package including group medical, dental, extended health and pension

Rate of Pay:  $21.74 for Responsible Adult to $23.57 depending upon qualifications; (plus $6 BC Government Wage Enhancement for staff with their ECE qualifications).  Benefits package included.  

Terms of Employment: 18-25.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (split shifts may be required)
