THE ORGANIZATION:
CRAFT Living is a fast growing and forward thinking premium wood flooring company based in Burnaby, BC. Established in 2002, the company has grown into a recognized brand in the premium engineered wood flooring market. CRAFT Living is known for handcrafted hardwood floors that bring together natural beauty, design integrity, responsible materials, and long-term performance.
CRAFT Living brings together a dedicated team of 30 professionals, with approximately $22 million in annual revenue. The company serves homeowners, designers, builders, retailers, and trade partners across North America. CRAFT Living’s operating model connects North American sales, distribution, and customer partnerships with production through its joint ownership of an offshore manufacturing facility. This structure enables direct involvement and coordination across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product development.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
CRAFT Living is seeking an experienced Vice President, Operations to join its senior leadership team in Burnaby, BC. The Vice President, Operations will serve as the senior operational leader for the business and a key partner to the Chief Executive Officer. The role will initially focus on strengthening operational execution, leadership accountability, business systems, and cross-functional alignment. Over time, the mandate will broaden to include greater responsibility for day-to-day execution across the organization.
This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on operational leader who enjoys building structure, developing leaders, improving accountability, and creating scalable business processes. The successful candidate will bring well-developed operational knowledge and sound judgment, with the ability to learn quickly, work through complex issues, and move practical solutions forward.
YOUR ROLE AS VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS:
Operational Leadership and Business Execution
- Lead the day-to-day execution of the business and ensure priorities are translated into clear operating plans.
- Establish operating rhythms, management processes, and accountability mechanisms that improve execution and decision-making.
- Drive alignment between sales forecasts, inventory investment, production planning, customer commitments, and operational capacity.
- Oversee product quality and warranty performance by ensuring customer issues are resolved effectively and root causes are addressed. Leverage customer feedback, claims data, and market insights to drive continuous improvements in products, processes, and service delivery while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.
Manufacturing, Inventory and Supply Chain Performance
- Champion operational excellence by embedding Lean principles across manufacturing and operations, enhancing productivity, quality, cost efficiency, and organizational capability while building scalable processes and performance standards.
- Improve production throughput, workflow efficiency, and operational consistency.
- Strengthen forecasting and inventory planning processes to improve product availability while reducing unnecessary working capital investment.
- Partner with the CEO and suppliers to improve lead-time management and supply continuity across international sourcing channels.
- Ensure quality, service levels, and customer expectations remain aligned with CRAFT Living's premium market position.
Leadership Development and Organizational Capability
- Build leadership capability across operational functions.
- Establish clear performance expectations, decision rights, accountability measures, and communication standards.
- Mentor managers and supervisors to become stronger operational leaders.
ERP Optimization and Business Systems
- Lead operational improvements associated with SAP and related business systems.
- Partner with functional leaders to improve data quality, reporting, forecasting, inventory visibility, and operational decision-making.
- Drive operational innovation by identifying and leveraging emerging technologies, digital capabilities, and process improvements that increase organizational performance, productivity, and customer value.
Strategic Growth and Organizational Readiness
- Participate as a member of the senior leadership team and contribute to annual and long-term business planning.
- Evaluate operational risks, growth opportunities, capacity constraints, and investment priorities.
YOUR EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE:
Education and Certifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- An MBA or other relevant graduate degree is preferred.
- Certification or training in Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, supply chain, or continuous improvement is considered an asset.
Skills and Experience
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within flooring, building products, wood products, millwork, manufacturing, construction materials, or similarly complex product environments. Experience within premium products and businesses that balance craftsmanship, quality, and operational efficiency will be considered a significant asset.
- 8+ years of senior leadership experience with accountability for operational strategy, business performance, capacity planning, quality, service reliability, and execution.
- Experience using operational data, forecasting, and business insight to inform decisions related to capacity, resourcing, investment, risk, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through established functional leaders while strengthening accountability, communication, decision-making, and execution across the business.
- Strong business judgment, with the ability to assess operational implications across cost, quality, timelines, service reliability, customer experience, and product value.
- Experience strengthening systems, processes, and planning practices to improve consistency, scalability, and organizational discipline.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience setting expectations, developing leaders, and supporting teams through growth, change, or increased complexity.
- Ability to work effectively with senior leaders across sales, finance, administration, customer-facing teams, and operational functions.
- Clear and credible communication skills, with the ability to bring structure and sound judgment to complex operational discussions.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and the credibility to build trust within an established business.
TOTAL REWARDS:
- Base Salary: $130,000 – $160,000, aligned with experience and skill set.
- Bonus: Annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
- Group RRSP: Eligible to participate in the established employer contribution matching program after two years of employment.
- Benefits: Coverage includes health care, dental care, vision care, AD&D, life insurance, and long-term disability, with eligible premiums covered 70% by the Company.
Pay: $130,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
