Job Title: Vice President, Operations
Department: Operations
Reports to: CEO
Job Type: Full Time
Hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Overtime Status: Exempt

Position Overview

The Vice President of Operations is a senior executive responsible for leading, optimizing, and scaling all aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations. This role ensures operational excellence, efficiency, and alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. The VP of Operations works closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to drive performance, profitability, and sustainable growth.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s long-term goals.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team on business planning, growth initiatives, and organizational design.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement, scalability, and cost optimization.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end operations across departments (e.g., supply chain, logistics, production, service delivery, or administrative operations).
  • Establish and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems to track performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, process redesign, and automation where applicable).

People & Leadership Management

  • Lead and mentor managers and department heads.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, efficiency, and collaboration.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development.

Financial & Budget Oversight

  • Develop and manage operational budgets in collaboration with Finance.
  • Ensure cost control, margin improvement, and resource optimization.
  • Monitor financial performance and operational ROI.

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Standardize processes across the organization to improve consistency and scalability.
  • Evaluate and implement operational systems, tools, and technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of business objectives.
  • Act as a key escalation point for operational challenges.

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure operational risk management practices are in place.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop contingency and business continuity plans.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • MBA or other advanced business degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director or VP level preferred).
  • Proven track record of scaling operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional teams.
  • Background in third party logistics (3PL), Transportation, or supply chain industries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and transportation management software (TMS).
