On-Site Catering Chef - Meatings Barbecue Inc.

Role Overview

Meatings Barbecue is seeking a reliable, hands-on Catering Chef to execute off-site catering events from start to finish. This role is focused on preparation, transport, on-site cooking, service, and cleanup, ensuring every event runs smoothly and delivers an exceptional food experience.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in execution, and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Execution (Start to Finish): Execute all catering events, including prep, packing, transport, setup, cooking, service, and teardown
  • Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook menu items to Meatings standards in both kitchen and on-site environments
  • On-Site Service: Oversee food service during events, ensuring quality, timing, and presentation are consistent
  • Setup & Cleanup: Set up equipment and serving stations efficiently and leave all sites clean and organized post-event
  • Driving & Logistics: Safely operate company vehicles, including trucks and trailers, for the transport of food and equipment
  • Team Support: Work alongside catering staff to ensure smooth, efficient execution during events
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling standards at all times
  • Equipment & Organization: Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are packed, maintained, and returned properly

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2–3+ years experience in a kitchen, catering, or food service environment
  • Strong cooking skills with the ability to execute consistently under pressure
  • Experience with off-site catering or events is a strong asset
  • Comfortable working long shifts, evenings, and weekends as required
  • Ability to lift, carry, and work in physically demanding environments
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to drive a truck and trailer confidently is a major asset
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset

Compensation

  • $20–$22/hour + gratuities
  • Gratuities typically range from $70–$250 per event, with multiple events per week

  • Setup and cleanup are efficient and professional
