Kaya Connection is a locally owned, licensed cannabis store located in the heart of downtown Parksville. We are a close knit team that takes pride in being knowledgeable about cannabis products & accessories to ensure we are giving the best recommendations for our customer's needs.

Job Description

Kaya Connection is accepting resumes for a Cannabis Consultant position. The successful candidate will be available to work a 12-24 hours per week. Applicant must be 19 years of age or older.

Please note - All employees are required to have their Selling It Right certificate to work in a Cannabis Retail Store. While we appreciate all interest in this position, we are currently only looking for candidates who have their Selling It Right via https://www.responsibleservicebc.gov.bc.ca/selling-it-right-course

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner. This includes being comfortable to ask each customer for ID that looks 40 and under.
  • Utilize POS systems in a high volume retail setting for processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle cash transactions responsibly and maintain accurate cash handling procedures.
  • Creating engaging posters, signs, and promotional materials using Canva.
  • Assist with social media content creation as needed.
  • Support marketing campaigns and in-store promotions.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual materials.
  • Work with the team to brainstorm new ideas for marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in inventory management, including stocking shelves and filing product information as needed.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of legal cannabis strains, products, and related cannabis accessories.
  • Assisting management with training of new staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the store, including product displays and storage areas.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • May be required to do deliveries and must follow all procedures related to delivering cannabis.

Job Requirements

  • A valid Selling It Right Certificate
  • Previous work experience in the legal cannabis industry preferably in retail
  • Previous experience in Canva, with the ability to design eye-catching signs and promotional materials for in-store and online use would be an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms is an asset.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel competency
  • Retail, cash handling, and Point of Sales experience - minimum 1 year
  • Customer service experience - minimum 1 year
  • Drivers license for deliveries and reliable means of transport to work - required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow directions
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekends, performing both opening and closing duties
  • Proper execution of all government and standard operating procedures, with attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • May require a criminal record/background check

Compensation

  • Hourly pay starting between $20-24 depending on existing skills and cannabis knowledge
  • Extended health and dental benefits after 3 month probationary period for employees that work 20+ hours minimum per week
  • Excellent staff discount
