Think about all these people saying “don’t waste your time” but yet currently are still employed. If it actually was as bad as they claim, they would have left. It’s a job. It can either be the best job ever or the worst - you gotta make it what you want. Apply, try, if it’s not for you try another department or find a new job. Don’t be a useless, bashing employee who has no motivation to find something else where but would rather sit on their phone complaining on indeed.

Too many inexperienced managers and supervisors. They say they offer a diverse culture but in reality, they don't want to know you. Be on time, work and leave. Everyone is very insecure in their positions. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Jobs posted, then cancelled. Forget about seniority, doesn't matter.

The culture is the best I have come across yet in my working career. I am used to "old boys clubs" and that does not exist here. Some of the brightest and most talented people I have met yet are here. Everyone is accepted and there is a strong LGBTQ community here. There is lots of staff events as well, and they are actually fun!
