Full job description

Inspirit Retirement Residence is looking for a fantastic cook who can make home cooked meals from real ingredients for a very large group. Our residents love good food. Cooking for them is gratifying!

This is a rewarding job that requires strong cooking skills, the ability to prep food for the next meal or the next day, and planning meals. This can involve lifting, bending, twisting and long periods of standing.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Monitor food stock and communicate any shortages to the supervisor
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation
- Assist in the development of new menu items and recipes
- Adhere to all safety and health regulations

Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and methods
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team setting
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow recipes accurately
- Food handler's certification is preferred

Experience:

  • Cooking: 3 years (required)

Language:

  • English (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Handler Certification (required)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (required)
