Position Title: Registered Nurse
Job Status: Full-time

Aurora Reproductive Care is a state-of-the-art fertility clinic located in the River Landing area (River Centre I) in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As the province’s only comprehensive reproductive health care facility, our mission is to provide the highest quality, compassionate reproductive health care possible in a comfortable, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Your Role
The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively within the Clinical Operations Department with the total Practice to provide timely, proficient services for all patients. The Registered Nurse is the primary contact and accountable for how a patient's cycle progresses.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate care for women and their partners receiving treatment in the department's various programs (e.g. IVF, IUI, Ovum Donation, Oncology Banking, etc.).
- Daily communication with the interprofessional team such as physicians, embryologists, andrologists, managers, administrative assistants and nursing team.
- Assists Physician in minimal sedation for procedures.
- Assist physicians with ultrasounds, procedures, exams as needed.
- IV insertion, phlebotomy as necessary.
- Provide patient education in one-on-one sessions.
- Assist and/or perform various procedures in the clinic and procedure room setting such as IUIs.
- Provides patient/couple counseling, IVF procedure education, and scheduling of treatment/coordination of treatment cycles after initial and follow-up visits. This is not a requirement until extensive training has been complete.
- Communicate lab results with appropriate interpretation and explanation.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Support women and families through the various ethical decisions that may be required as they explore various treatment options.
- Provide emotional support to women and families who are not successful in achieving pregnancy.
- Participate in professional development, quality improvement and safety activities within the program.
- Maintains privacy & confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Current certificate of Registration, Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association
- Experience in fertility and/or gynecology is an asset
- BScN preferred
- Counselling experience is an asset
- Current BCLS mandatory and ACLS preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and decision making
- Excellent computer skills, comfortable with working with an EMR
- Venipuncture and Intravenous ability
- Ability to work independently to manage a caseload of patients
- Able to work effectively in a team to provide excellent patient care
- Demonstration of good attendance and work performance
- Comfortable working with LGBTQI2 patients
- Committed to patient centered care
- Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations.
Position Requirement:
- 37.5 hours per week.
Must be available for (2) two weekends per month.
