Overview

Join our team as a Corporate Services / By-Law Enforcement Officer and become a vital part of maintaining community standards and ensuring compliance with municipal bylaws. In this energetic role, you will actively enforce regulations related to property standards, parking, noise, and other local bylaws, fostering a safe and orderly environment for residents and visitors alike. Your proactive approach and strong communication skills will help build positive relationships within the community while ensuring adherence to municipal policies.

Duties

  • Enforce municipal bylaws by conducting inspections, patrols, and investigations across designated areas
  • Respond promptly to reports of by-law violations, providing clear guidance and issuing notices or tickets as appropriate
  • Educate the public on by-law requirements through effective communication and community engagement
  • Document all enforcement activities thoroughly, including detailed reports of inspections, violations, and actions taken
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments and law enforcement agencies to address complex or ongoing issues
  • Assist in organizing community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting awareness of by-law regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of enforcement activities and ensure compliance with legal procedures

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse community members and stakeholders
  • Previous experience in law enforcement, municipal enforcement, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of local bylaws, regulations, and enforcement procedures is an asset
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and firmness
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to conduct patrols on foot or in a vehicle as required
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail to accurately assess situations and determine appropriate actions
