Position: Business Development Specialist (AB)

Reports to: National Sales Manager, Canada

Has Contact with: Customers, key accounts, warehouse, management & staff

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Work Location: Home Based – Alberta (90% travel within territory)

Territory: Alberta

Job Type: Full Time

Bonus/Commission: Yes

Company car: No, car allowance

Experience: Sales and technical experience in the paint industry preferred; automotive painter and technical experience highly preferred. Sales experience an asset.

Travel: 90% of the position involves travel within assigned territory. Initial training can be in Vaughan/Toronto and Germany.

Languages: Fluent in English

Other: Must be eligible to work in Canada and travel internationally.

Position Summary

The Canadian branch of SATA (SATA Canada) is looking for a Business Development Specialist who will not only grow the business in Canada, but who will grow with the company and contribute to the high level of customer satisfaction that the firm is known for as well as establishing the already solid position of the SATA brand within his/her territory. They will report directly to the Sales Manager, Canada and will be ideally based out of Edmonton or Calgary.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Maintain and grow sales through product promotion and regular market research on industry changes.
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new distributors and customers within the territory.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of all SATA products and services to respond to customer and partner inquiries promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing distribution partners to support their growth and maximize product sell-through.
  • Provide technical support and training on current and new products to customers and distributor partners, including conducting presentations, technical demonstrations, and training sessions.
  • Effectively handle any customer problems in a professional and resourceful manner.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including marketing, customer service, and product development to ensure customer satisfaction and market alignment.
  • Seek out project and partnership opportunities by attending industry trade shows, regional events, and customer meetings to promote brand presence and generate leads.
  • Follow up promptly on leads, staying on top of market updates to create/maintain sales pipeline.
  • Analyze territory performance, track KPIs, and report on sales activities using CRM and sales reporting tools.
  • Travel to all parts of territory, as necessary, to maintain a face-to-face relationship with customers and partners.
  • Regular submittal of reports (i.e. expense) as required by Management.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by Management.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum 5-10+ years of sales experience in automotive refinishing or repair, industrial tools, or paint industry
  • Proven success managing and growing a sales territory and working with distribution networks
  • University degree is preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Flexibility with working hours and travelling times (long hours/weekends required occasionally)
  • Excellent ability to develop business plans, make projections, follow up & adjust plans as needed
