At Nootka Marine Adventures, we take pride in providing exceptional service and unforgettable experiences for our guests. We operate three premier resorts on Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast: Moutcha Bay Resort, Nootka Sound Resort, and Newton Cove Resort

We are dedicated to preserving the timeless art of sport fishing while nurturing the next generation of anglers. Our mission is to provide an unparalleled luxury fishing experience that not only immerses our guests in the natural beauty of our surroundings but also instills a deep appreciation for fishing and the environment.

About the Role

Are you passionate about building relationships, creating new business opportunities, and helping a growing tourism company reach its full potential?

As our Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in expanding our markets, developing strategic partnerships, and generating new revenue opportunities across corporate, group, travel trade, and tourism sectors. Working closely with our Commercial Manager, you will represent Nootka Marine Adventures while developing long-term client relationships while helping shape the future growth of one of Canada's premier fishing resort companies.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, results-oriented professional who enjoys networking, traveling, and turning opportunities into lasting partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that drive revenue growth and expand market share.
  • Build and manage relationships with corporate clients, travel advisors, tour operators, tourism organizations, and strategic partners.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, and lead generation.
  • Prepare customized proposals, presentations, and commercial agreements that meet client needs and company objectives.
  • Represent Nootka Marine Adventures at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and industry meetings.
  • Develop business opportunities for corporate retreats, group travel, incentive programs, and specialty tourism experiences.
  • Coordinate Familiarization (FAM) tours and collaborative marketing initiatives with tourism partners.
  • Monitor industry trends, market opportunities, and competitive activity to support commercial planning.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, partnership information, and commercial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Reservations, Resort Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver exceptional client experiences.

Qualifications

Required

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Tourism, Hospitality, Commerce, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business development, sales, tourism, hospitality, or destination marketing.
  • Experience working in collaboration with Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and willingness to travel.

Preferred

  • Experience within destination tourism, outdoor adventure, resorts, or hospitality.
  • Existing relationships with Destination BC, Indigenous Tourism BC, 4VI, travel trade partners, or tourism associations.
  • Experience attending trade shows and industry networking events.
  • Familiarity with Maestro PMS, CRM platforms, commercial analytics, and AI productivity tools.

What We Expect From You

Every employee plays a key role in creating a professional, welcoming, and solution-focused environment for our guests. Working with us is an opportunity to be part of a respectful, hard-working, and supportive community in one of the most stunning locations and renowned fishing grounds in British Columbia.

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Work well with others. You value teamwork and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace.
  • Follow direction and take initiative. You can listen, learn, and deliver your best every day.
  • Solve problems calmly and effectively. You focus on finding solutions, not excuses.
  • Show professionalism and pride. You arrive fit for duty, on time, and ready to represent Nootka Marine Adventures with integrity.

If you enjoy connecting with people, learning new skills, and being part of a team that feels like family, you will thrive here!

What You Can Expect From Us
