Are you passionate about bringing unique events and festivals to life? Do you have the know‑how to bring all the pieces together to create something memorable? If so, our auxiliary Special Events Assistant position might be the perfect fit. You’re a highly organized individual with excellent time‑management skills. You know where things need to be, how tasks need to be completed, and who should be involved. You’re also a strong communicator who can confidently engage with a wide range of internal and external partners and lead a team of junior staff. In this role, you’ll support the City’s Special Events Team in developing, planning, and coordinating a variety of special events and festivals. Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 and related work experience supporting events and/or festivals. A background in Cultural and Arts fields—particularly event planning, stage management, or project management—along with strong clerical experience, will be considered assets. Your application should clearly outline your experience leading staff or volunteers, booking and coordinating artists or performers, and providing on‑site event support. Strong writing skills, including the ability to produce professional emails and daily event reports, are recommended for this position. You should also highlight your experience working with community organizations and sourcing resources for events and festivals. A valid British Columbia Driver’s License is required, while Occupational First Aid Level 1 is considered an asset.
We are currently hiring three Special Events Assistants on an as‑needed basis throughout the year. Availability on weekends during July and August, as well as on statutory holidays, is required for these positions. Please note that a Police Information Check is required.
