Overview:

Job Summary:

We have one position available.

Position is 25 - 30 hours per week

This position entails supporting individuals with diverse abilities within the Sooke Region.

Starting wage is determined on required qualifications
All employees meeting minimum requirements will begin at Base pay
No employee will begin at more than Level 3 on the grid

The CSW will Ensure the well-being of the individuals and promote their growth and development. A key component of this job is to support the individuals to learn the skills they need in their physical, social, emotional and daily life skills development.

The ultimate goal is to increase their independence and support their success in the community.

Plan, develop, implement and evaluate activities with the individuals focusing on self-determination, rights, emotional well-being, interpersonal relations, material well-being, personal development, physical wellbeing and social inclusion.

The CSW strives to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere in order to encourage individuals’ participation.

Primary Duties

  • Support individuals to learn the skills they need to allow them to function safely and independently in their own homes and in the community.
  • Facilitate physical, recreational, social, employment and/or educational opportunities, based on the needs and interests of the individuals.
  • Monitor individuals’ progress and well-being, and evaluate the effectiveness of supports and services by keeping daily case notes of activities, progress towards goals, and any other notable life circumstances that may affect their support needs.
  • Actively participate in, and contribute to monthly staff meetings

Requirements:

  • Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent education, and
  • At least two years previous work experience with people with diverse abilities in community settings.
  • First Aid
  • Crisis Intervention (SIVA preferred)
  • Criminal Record Check to work with a vulnerable population
  • Must own a reliable vehicle to transport individuals

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $26.46 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
