Full job description

Head Chef - Neighbourhood Diner | Vancouver, BC

We're looking for a Chef de Cuisine who's ready to take the bones of a classic spot and build something people line up for. Elevated diner classics with real technique. Quality ingredients, made in-house. A menu that holds its own next to great local beer or wine.

It earned its place in this city with a 38 year history. Now we're going to make it worthy of the decades to come.

There's real creative latitude here. The space to evolve a beloved menu alongside the chef owner and build the kind of standards you'd want to cook to.

What you'll own

Budgeting, ordering, and cost management. Working with existing staff, training and mentoring. Hiring and setting the standard for quality and consistency on every plate. You'll collaborate directly with the chef owner to develop a menu identity that honours the space while raising the bar, and you'll play a key role in building a kitchen culture people want to be part of.

Who we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality-focused, high-volume kitchen
  • Strong budgeting, food cost management, and kitchen economics
  • Comfortable evolving a menu while honouring the roots of an existing concept
  • A leader who builds people up
  • Honest, well-executed diner food, never cutting corners
  • You thrive when the path isn't fully mapped out yet

Compensation

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year
