If you want to use a chainsaw daily, while having the opportunity to be outside year-round and physically active on a daily basis NGS is the job you have been searching for.

About NGS Contracting Ltd:

NGS is a North Vancouver based tree service doing Utility, Rail and Residential tree care for over 20 years.

Our worksites vary weekly, a wide variety of job locations and opportunities will be available when joining our team. The NGS work territory covers the North Shore, Squamish, Vancouver, Burnaby and the Sunshine Coast.

Past and current projects have included:

  • Working along Hydro transmission powerlines high above the Capilano Watershed accessed via hiking trails, truck or boat
  • Post wildfire tree removals in Squamish
  • Neighborhood roadside Utility powerline trimming throughout the North Shore, Sea to Sky corridor, Vancouver, and Burnaby areas
  • Boat access only worksites on the North Shore and Howe Sound
  • Tree removals using a Crane
  • Slashing and removing identified hazard trees in Whistler and Pemberton
  • Assisting as Chainsaw operator to an Excavator-operated mower to remove undergrowth along Hydro transmission powerlines running from Coquitlam to Yale

Job Responsibilities:
Looking for full-time (40 hours per week) hardworking individuals who want the opportunity to use a chainsaw.

You'll learn through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:

  • Pruning/slashing vegetation using a chainsaw
  • Rigging (using rope and cables, blocks and pulleys)
  • Tree removals
  • Maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws and chippers)
  • Chipping of brush
  • Learning and understanding all safety policies and laying out a safe work zone
  • Assisting Arborist climbers working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing up, dumping and parking duties

Temporary out-of-town contract work will occur each year. Accommodation is provided during these contracts as is a daily "Live Out Allowance" (LOA).

Qualifications:
Drivers license required, with reliable personal vehicle to get to yard each day. MUST CURRENTLY LIVE in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, BC.

Current Air Brakes and/or Class 3 certifications will pay higher.

Apprenticeship program with SkilledTrades BC sponsorship (Industry Training Authority of BC) available for career driven individuals wanting to further advance in arboriculture.

NGS crew members are enthusiastic, fit, welcoming and hold a wide variety of certifications such as:

  • ISA (International Society of Arboriculture)
  • CUA (Certified Utility Arborist)
  • AUA (Apprentice Utility Arborist)
  • Occupational First Aid
  • BC Faller and Bucking Endorsement
  • Wildlife Danger Tree Assessment
  • TCP ( Traffic Control Person and/or Lane Control Tech certifications)
  • Class 1, 3 or 5 with Air Brakes driving certifications
  • S100 Wildland Firefighting training

Opportunities to gain these same certifications and more are available for all new hires.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
