Position Summary

Northern Health is seeking a Regional Manager, Hospitals & Long-Term Care Systems with management and leadership experience to join our Information Management Information Technology & Biomedical Engineering department.
The Regional Manager, Hospitals & Long-Term Care Systems is responsible for the planning, functionality and lifecycle of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) used to manage operations and deliver care in Northern Health (NH) hospitals and long-term care (LTC) homes. These systems are used by providers, nurses, allied health professionals, support staff, and operational managers. The Manager is the regional liaison between clinical leaders, Information Management Information Technology (IMIT), Biomedical Engineering, vendors and partners, ensuring that CIS services are in accordance with NH practices and strategic goals. The position manages IMIT staff, projects, services and relationships. The position is a health informatics leader, working in consultation with stakeholders to advance healthcare transformation. They utilize the framework of people, processes and technology to improve rural health spaces and services.
The salary range for this position is $108,147 (min) to $135,184 (midpoint) to $155,461 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Nursing, Health Information Sciences or Business Administration.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience with information systems including a minimum of two (2) years in a project management, technical supervision or management role.
- Previous experience leading or managing enterprise systems in a complex multi-site environment, preferably integrated electronic health record based hospital information systems.
- Successful record of leading and managing large, high profile implementation projects.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current valid BC Driver’s License.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated successful leadership and management skills.
- Knowledge of Clinical Information Systems, Application Life Cycle and ITIL methodologies.
- Knowledge of information and knowledge management principles including but not limited to areas of information sharing, quality and FOIPPA privacy legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and implement new information systems.
- Flexibility to manage changing priorities and scope of work.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical and/or clinical issues to non-technical or non-clinical users with a high degree of comprehension.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships and work with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver defined results working under pressure and on concurrent projects.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to groups.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people through information system and work flow changes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Proficiency in Office Systems (i.e. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio).
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Northern Health’s geographic region.
