Company Overview

Harmer House Outreach Adult Day Program specializes in providing social and recreational activities designed to enhance the functional abilities and independence of adults. Our mission is to support individuals in maintaining their community connections and living as independently as possible in a safe, secure environment.
Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recreational Assistant for our Adult Day Program at Harmer House in Bells Corners. This role is vital in creating engaging activities that promote well-being and social interaction for our participants, helping them to enable them to remain in their home as long as possible.
Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate recreational activities tailored to the needs of adults with varying abilities.
  • Support participants in engaging with activities that enhance their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop individualized activity plans.
  • Ensure a safe environment during all recreational activities.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, and team members to promote a positive experience.
  • Assist with daily program operations and participant supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities and participant progress using CIMS.
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful atmosphere that encourages participation.
  • Qualifications
  • SSW, DSW, PSW or Recreational Therapy Diploma
  • Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care environments.
  • Strong communication skills essential for engaging with older adults with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of dementia care and caregiving best practices.
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of seniors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
