Mechanical Design Engineer | New Zealand | Visa and Relocation Support

Vouch is advertising this opportunity on behalf of Caliber Design, a New Zealand engineering consultancy looking for experienced UK mechanical design engineers who may be ready for a new challenge abroad.

Caliber is looking for multiple engineers at the moment, and for the right people the process can move quickly!

They have successfully hired engineers internationally many times over the past two years, so this is a pathway they understand well. They will support suitable candidates through the visa process, relocation planning and the transition into life and work in New Zealand.

About Caliber Design

Caliber Design is a New Zealand engineering consultancy built around highly capable mechanical engineers.

Their engineers embed directly into client teams, helping deliver complex design, product development and capital projects. Caliber has worked with more than 300 clients, with around 90% of its work coming from repeat business.

You would join a national team of more than 85 engineers working across aerospace, food processing, medical, marine, manufacturing and heavy industry.

The work is varied, practical and technically demanding. Caliber is looking for high-performing engineers who take pride in their work, adapt quickly and enjoy solving different engineering problems.

The Opportunity

This role is available in either Auckland or Christchurch.

Caliber engineers typically work on client projects lasting three to six months. During each project, you become part of the client’s team, providing hands-on mechanical design expertise and helping deliver important engineering work.

You get exposure to different industries, technical challenges and working environments while still having the security of full-time, permanent employment with Caliber.

It is a strong fit for engineers who want more variety and challenge without moving away from hands-on design.

Who Caliber Is Looking For

You will likely be a strong fit if you:

  • Hold a bachelor’s-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Have at least five years of experience in mechanical or machine design
  • Are proficient in SolidWorks or Inventor, ideally both
  • Have experience with FEA and engineering analysis
  • Communicate clearly and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Enjoy adapting to different industries, teams and project environments
  • Want to remain hands-on with detailed engineering and design work

Experience as a Project Engineer within factories, processing plants, manufacturing or heavy industry would be a strong advantage.

Life in New Zealand

Auckland and Christchurch both offer strong engineering careers alongside a high quality of life.

Caliber will support successful candidates through the New Zealand work visa process and help with the practical steps involved in relocating.

Remuneration and Benefits

Caliber engineers are employed on a full-time, permanent basis.

Typical earnings are in the range of NZD $100,000 to $130,000 per year, including overtime, depending on experience.
