Personal Support Worker (PSW) / Care Professional

Home Instead Toronto East is currently hiring Care Professionals to provide non-medical home care services throughout Toronto East, Scarborough, East York, the Beaches, and surrounding communities.

Compensation

$17.60 - $21.50 per hour

Job Type

Expected Hours

10-40 hours per week, based on availability, client needs, and care professional-client matching.

Available Shifts

• Days
• Afternoons
• Overnights
• Weekdays
• Weekends

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and emotional support to seniors
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support mobility, ambulation, transfers, and daily exercise routines
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding when required
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry
• Provide Alzheimer's and Dementia care support
• Observe and report changes in client condition or well-being
• Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification is considered an asset, but is not required
• Minimum one (2) year of professional caregiving, healthcare, home care, retirement home, long-term care, or related experience
• Experience supporting seniors and individuals living with Dementia is an asset
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to use technology such as a Smartphone
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and reliability
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including assisting clients with mobility and lifting up to 25 lbs when required

Employment Requirements

• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening, as a condition of employment
• Reliable access to a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and electronic documentation
• Compliance with all company policies, training requirements, and workplace safety standards
• Ability to comply with Home Instead's Immunization and Communicable Disease Prevention Policies, including providing required documentation where applicable
• Compliance with Home Instead's health and safety policies, including any client-or facility-specific vaccination requirements where applicable

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Driver's Licence
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• Residing within or near Toronto East, Scarborough, East York, or the Beaches area to facilitate client assignments and travel between shifts
