Full job description
CMHA Kelowna is hiring a full-time Clinical Lead to join the Foundry Kelowna Team. This position offers 37.5 hours per week, with a typical work week of Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm with Tuesday and Thursday variations of 9am-5pm or 11am-7pm based on program need.
WHO IS A CLINICAL LEAD?
The Clinical Lead is a member of the leadership team at Foundry Kelowna and provides comprehensive clinical support to all Foundry Kelowna services and supervision to clinicians, counsellors, practicum students, and clinical programs. This position involves overseeing the facilitation of clinical programs, enhancing the counselling and educational experiences of team members and practicum students, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services. The Clinical Lead collaborates as a leadership member on integrated services and program development across CMHA Kelowna.
WHAT DOES A CLINICAL LEAD DO?
- Supervise and anchor walk-in counselling services, ensuring comprehensive initial assessments for clients and intersession support
- Provide ongoing clinical consultation and support to clinical staff within Foundry Kelowna
- Support the practicum student program at Foundry Kelowna through interviewing, training, supervising, and overseeing the learning goals of practicum students.
- Facilitate Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Intervention training for each cohort of students
- Develop and supervise psycho education programming for young people at Foundry Kelowna
- Provide clinical support to all CMHA Kelowna & District Branch programs as required
- Collaborate on the development, management, and provision of all clinical services and programs of CMHA Kelowna & District Branch
- Contribute to the development and revision of clinical policies and procedures
- Contribute to community partner meetings to discuss program updates and referral processes as required by management
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated client care.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of clinical employees and practicum students
- Provide guidance and clinical mentorship to support the educational goals of students in postsecondary Master’s programs aligned with registered practice standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including healthcare providers, schools, and social service agencies
- Coordinate with local and provincial clinical working groups, attending meetings as required
- Provide team support and coverage to Foundry Kelowna leadership team
- Provide support to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and privacy laws
- Write reports on programs and services for senior management and funders, including presentations to health and community partners
- Provide training, orientation, and ongoing professional development to enhance staff capabilities
- Nurture a positive team environment focused on continuous learning, effective communication, and collaboration
- Respond to staff needs, providing debriefing and support during crisis or critical incidents
- Provide oversight to direct reports including performance management, delegation and workflow and conflict resolution
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Counselling required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in clinical counselling
- 1-2 years supervisory experience
- Registration in applicable field (ie: BCCSW, BCACC, CCC)
- Experience working with youth, young adults and/or families/caregivers is required
- Reliable vehicle and the ability to travel between facilities and other locations on an occasional basis
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
- Criminal Record Check clearance in the Vulnerable Sector
- Certificates in First Aid, CPR and Naloxone considered an asset
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to build rapport with youth, families, and community partners
- Understanding of and commitment to treating young people with mental health and substance use challenges
- Ability to mentor and support students as a practicum advisor
- Ability to maintain consistent professional boundaries
- Experience in assessing and treating young people with mental health challenges
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient in mental health assessments, psycho-education, and short-term intervention strategies
- Familiarity with community resources and mental health service pathways
- Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (TELUS CHR preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for assessing client needs and developing effective treatment plans
- Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills when dealing with staff and clients
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage ambiguity in clinical settings
- Ability to be regularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering from trauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental health challenges and/or mental illness
