We are seeking a dynamic Government and Interest Holder Relations Advisor to support and advance our engagement with government and key interest holder organizations. The Role
Reporting to the Director, Community Relations, the Government and Interest Holder Relations Advisor contributes value through key areas of oversight such as:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of government and interest holder engagement strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities;
  • Monitoring legislative, political, and funding developments, providing timely and concise analysis to support leadership awareness and operational readiness;

  • Planning and coordinating government and interest holder engagement activities (e.g., roundtables, working sessions, project updates), ensuring clear objectives and follow-through;
  • Supporting BC Ferries’ participation in multi-party discussions, representing the organization as required;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., Customer Relations, Engineering, Strategy and Planning) to align messaging, share insights, and support consistent external engagement;
  • Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of tools, processes, and practices that strengthen government and interest holder relations;
What you bring to the team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Public Affairs, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Policy are preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in government relations, interest holder engagement, or public affairs, ideally in a transportation, infrastructure, or marine context
  • Training with the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) or other recognized institution
  • Membership in Public Affairs Association of Canada or Government Relations Institute of Canada
  • Experience with public engagement and working to influence and deliver change in established business practices
