Full job description

Job Title: Personal Support Worker

Location: BC Immigration Holding Centre (Onsite, 3 days/week)

Schedule: Monday x 4hrs – Fridays x 4hrs - Sundays x 4hrs – may be flexibility on this

Reports To: Manager, Clinical Practice


PAY- $22-25/hr


Position Summary

Bayshore Medical Personnel is in search of a Personal Support Worker interested in PART TIME work to join a healthcare clinic that provides medical services for all clients of various risk levels. This includes but is not limited to: adult males, adult females, families, pregnant women, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, minors, persons suffering from a medical condition or disability, addictions, persons with suspected or diagnosed mental illness, and victims of human trafficking.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:


  • Assist detainees with activities of daily living. This may include feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
  • Provide any additional care as delegated by a registered health practitioner, as needed and when it can be performed safely and within provincial legislation.
  • When required, monitor the well-being and safety of the detainee and their environment to report and document unsafe conditions, behavioral, physical, and/or cognitive changes to medical resources.
  • Communicate basic information to detainees, CBSA officers, or contracted security resources in accordance with a pre-established plan of care.
  • Complete and maintain any related records. Documentation may include reports, system or file updates, and progress notes.
  • Work collaboratively with all other members of the medical service resources and the CBSA.
  • Provide mobility and social support.
  • Perform Administrative tasks and follow up with other Healthcare providers

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Copy of PSW/HCSA certificate, license, or permit certification from the provincially regulated authority.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years, working as a Personal Support Worker.


    SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

    All candidates will be required to obtain and show proof of:


    • A valid RELIABILITY STATUS security clearance (request form and fingerprint form will be provided by Bayshore and full reimbursement)
    • A Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) (must be within one-year)
    • Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) Certification (must be within two-years)
