Controller

About Us

Richmond Advisory Services Inc. is a national property management andfacility services company that is currently seeking a Controller for our office in Markham Ontario. As our organization continues to scale nationally, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting function and help expand the financial infrastructure to support continued growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting to ownership/senior leadership, the Controller will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across our multi-provincial property management operations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable owning the full accounting cycle while also contributing to strategic financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accountspayable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations,and monthly, quarterly and year-end closings and reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely consolidated financial statements acrossmultiple provinces
  • Manage property-level and portfolio-level financial reporting, includingCAM/TMI reconciliations and owner/client reporting
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures across the organization
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and relevant provincial regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate year-end audit and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
  • Manage trust accounting and client fund reconciliations in accordancewith property management regulatory requirements
  • Support due diligence, credit, and reporting requests from institutional/banking clients
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
  • Partner with ownership on financial analysis to support business decisions, including new client onboarding and portfolio growth
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within the accounting function

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required (or near completion)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a Controller, senior accounting leadership role, and property management
  • Yardi experience is required
  • Experience with Spectra is considered a strong asset
  • Prior experience in property management, real estate, or facility services accounting strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of trust accounting and multi-provincial regulatory requirements (Ontario, BC, Alberta, Quebec) an asset
  • Strong understanding of CAM/TMI, lease administration, and property-level financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfort working with financial systems and reporting tools
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with ownership and external stakeholders (banks, auditors, clients)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a multi-entity, multi-province environment
  • Being English and French speaking would be an asset
